What’s new: August 2013

As summer winds down and the busy fall approaches, you’ll need even more help staying productive, and recent changes in Office 365 give you just that. Office 365 for business users will appreciate a number of improvements. Their data storage across services greatly increased-to 50 GB for email and 25 GB for documents-at no additional cost. Lync 2013 mobile apps for iPhone and Windows Phone got new meeting features. And admins now have remote PowerShell for Lync, plus they can get in-service notifications about upcoming changes right in the Message Center. Read all of the changes in June and July for business and home users.

Office 365 Home Premium & Office 365 University updates:

OneNote for Android update for external keyboards-Additional support of English QWERTY keyboards.

Office 365 for business updates*:

Exchange Online mailbox sizes are doubling-Individual user mailbox sizes are increasing from 25 GB to 50 GB. Kiosk, Shared, and Resource mailboxes are also increasing in size.

SkyDrive Pro enhancements-SkyDrive Po is increasing the default user storage from 7 GB to 25 GB, and admins are now able to give users additional SkyDrive Pro storage. Users can now upload individual files up to 2 GB in size to their SkyDrive Pro, their Recycle Bin retention default is increasing from 30 to 90 days, and versioning is being turned on by default for newly created SkyDrive Pro libraries.

More easily switch Office 365 plans-A new switch plans wizard helps customers upgrade to higher plans within their service plan family.

Message Center-Office 365 admins can now see important service updates right from within the Office 365 admin center.

Remote PowerShell for Lync Online-Admins can now user PowerShell for Lync Online management and automation.

Lync 2013 Mobile: Get more from your meetings-Mobile apps for iPhone and Windows Phone now support viewing shared meeting content, such as PowerPoint slides or a desktop.

Cascading controls in Access Web App-Build drop-down selectors that show values based on previous selections.

OneNote for Android update for external keyboards-Additional support of English QWERTY keyboards.

Outlook Web App search highlighting has been improved to highlight searched terms throughout the message in the reading pane.

Please note some of the above updates may take time to show up in your Office 365 account as they are being rolled out to customers worldwide.
