Welcome to our first new Office update post in which we share the features we are delivering to our Office customers across Windows, Mac, iOS, Android and Office Online. This month we expanded Skype integration in Office Online, introduced an Office Online extension for Chrome and delivered improvements in Office on Android and Office 2016 for Mac.
Today is the worldwide release of Office 2016 for Windows. This marks a milestone in delivering new value for Office 365 subscribers with a focus on collaboration, apps that work for you, a perfect pairing with Windows 10, and security features businesses will love. It also marks a new model for delivery, where subscribers can expect to get more frequent updates with new features and improvements.
Earlier this year, we announced a preview of the new Outlook.com, featuring a refined inbox, new ways to collaborate, an upgraded calendar and support for partner add-ins, including Uber, PayPal and Boomerang. Today, we’re pleased to announce new partnerships with Evernote, Yelp, IFTTT and Wunderlist to deliver solutions for both consumer and commercial Outlook users. In addition, we’re expanding the rollout of the new Outlook.com to a broader audience.
Office 365, the world’s most popular productivity solution, has been integrated with popular educational open source software such as Moodle and Open edX. Office’s open REST APIs make it possible for teachers and students to take advantage of Office’s rich authoring capabilities to create content, submit assignments, provide feedback, and manage class schedules, all within a single sign-on (SSO) experience enabled by Azure Active Directory.
