The Project Portfolio Dashboard apps announced last fall are now available in the Apple and Office app stores! These apps come pre-configured with powerful dashboards allowing business leaders, portfolio managers and project managers to gain insights into areas such as resource utilization, project portfolio performance, costs, active risks/issues and key milestones.

While the rich, out-of-box reports are designed to be immediately useful for many customers, the web app also allows customization of your portfolio dashboard to help meet specific organizational needs. Choose from a variety of project, task and resource-based reports, including issues/risks/deliverables reporting. Choose from several filtering options, including filtering by custom fields. Reports can be customized with just a few clicks without leaving the app. To learn more, read What can I do with a portfolio dashboard?

The iPad app provides access to powerful, professional-looking portfolio health reports on any iPad device anywhere, anytime. Connect the iPad app to Project Online to see the same out-of-box reports available in the web app. If you’ve added the web app to Project Online, you’ll also be able to see any customizations you’ve made, giving you a seamless reporting experience across both platforms. 1. You can only view project data but cannot perform any action inside app. Doing so will redirect you to project site in browser. I expect this to be part of an app itself..

    • The app was designed as a read-only reporting dashboard as it consumes the Project ODATA feed. Thank you for the feedback, however, about having the ability to change data contextual in the reports.

  2. Hello, there’s a problem (bug?) that decimal values are not shown correctly. E.g. project cost is 5000 € and in the app it is shown as 5.000.000.000 €. Same with work. Is there a fix/workaround available?

  3. We are not currently on Office 365, and it could be sometime before it is fully implemented, would Project Online (PPM) work with SharePoint on Windows 7 Enterprise OS?

I am not an extremely technical person, so please forgive if I am posting in the wrong place, or asking a question that is answered in a different area.

  4. Will version for Windows Phone (Mobile) like UWP app come also in next months?

  5. Keen to try and use this, starting with the iPad version. Downloaded and installed. Getting repeated credential errors when I attempt to connect our O365 Project Server https://login.microsoft.com using what I truly believe are correct ID and password. Is there some sort of problem which gives rise to the error message that “User credentials or PWA server are incorrect”. Use same credentials with a browser works just fine.

  6. Where to get assistance on the login for the iPad app? I know I’m putting in the right credentials; yet the iPad app reports that the credentials are not correct. Attempting to go to Project on O365 run my Microsoft.

    • Best get your Project Online administrator to submit a support case Rob – they can do this from the Admin portal and the Support link on the left. If your company has a Premier agreement then you can open via your usual Premier channel. I’ve not seen any issues using the iPad app myself.
      Best regards,
      Brian

  7. The app looks great! I can access it through Site Contents but this is not a good solution for end users. When I try to add a link to the app from PWA it does not load the data and you have to reselect the link from the top of the Dashboard page to refresh it.

How can I add a link to the Dashboards on PWA Home page that works correctly please?

    • Hi Glyn, the link you need to add would be to your PWA Url with /Dashboard at the end. Can you try that? It will redirect to the long app Url. Let me know if this still doesn’t work.
      Best regards,
      Brian.

  8. I have installed the App in our PWA Site Collection and it works for me and some other users however other users are failing to load the dashboard. Error: List ‘MicrosoftPortfolioCache’ does not exist at site…
    Anyone else having similar issues?

    • Hi Trevor – we are investigating a couple of issues that non-admin users are seeing – the cache problem is one of them.
      Best regards,
      Brian

  9. When you are planning to release app for Android platform? Can i install this app on my iPhone?

  10. Hi Brian,
I have another issue. I see all the projects twice in the various lists/reports. I could not find a way to view the data source to try to understand why this may be happening. Any ideas?

    Thanks!
    Glyn

  11. Any idea what this error means?

    – Failed to save cache section ‘issues’ for dashboard. Access is Denied. You do not have permission to perform this action or access this resource.

Some users get this and others do not.

    Thanks
