Updates for iOS: PIN code support and new features for iOS8

Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Linkedin Share via OneNote Share via Email Print

Today we updated our iOS app to improve the OneDrive experience on your iPhone or iPad. We added some features based on customer requests and others to take advantage of new technologies in iOS 8. We’re working hard to help you do more while on the go—today we updated our iOS app and just last week we updated our Android app. For all our Windows Phone customers: stay tuned, updates are coming your way soon, too!

First, to help prevent other people who use your device from accidentally making changes to your files, we added the ability to require a PIN code to access the OneDrive app. We also built on the brand new Touch ID API in iOS 8 to let you use a fingerprint to sign in to the app.

Second, we made it even easier to manage your files and be productive. We adjusted our app to make use of the extra screen real estate on the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. Now you can see more files and folders on screen, and have more space for making edits to your Office documents.

Third, we also added the ability to sort your files and folders on your iPhone or iPad.

So go get the app update, turn on camera backup to get your extra 15 GB of storage, and please keep your thoughts and feedback coming through our UserVoice site!

  1. keeps on getting better!
we just need the ability to specify which folders/files to sync online and have the ability to save offline shared folders/files from others.

    Photo uploading
    Doesn’t look like it’s fixed.

  3. No Document Picker support? When are you going to add this (in both ways, like Dropbox)?

  4. Dear OneDrive

I just had a quick question regarding photo and video storage. Does OneDrive upload full resolution photos and videos with no compression or quality/size loss during upload through the iOS and Android apps? And also, does OneDrive allow these photo and video files to be downloaded back to our devices in their original/full resolution through their respective apps?

Thanks and have a great one!

  6. Hey guys. I am still not able to import files from Microsoft Onedrive but from apps like “Documents” from readdle, iCloud and Dropbox? Come on …. you have forgotten your own cloud drive to be an option?

    • Try AllDocs, Works with the Apple’s premier apps like Keynote, Numbers and Pages and also one of the best email Client App, CloudMagic.
It is an extension app build around the document storage provider extension from iOS8

  8. hey all,
Just a simple app for iOS8 users, AllDocs provide a seamless access to all the files stored in OneDrive from right within the document picker of the app.

AllDocs is an extension app that will ease away all your pains of exporting and importing files to and from OneDrive.
