With the Back to School season in full swing, we’re excited to announce some cool news and great new features for Office Mix. In case you missed us over the summer, Office Mix is an easier way to make your Microsoft PowerPoint lessons more engaging and share them online. You can record your lectures while you write and draw on slides, and add video, assessments, and labs. Store them in the cloud to share them with your students, who can play them on nearly any device. See analytics for every student, quiz, and slide. And it’s all free if you have PowerPoint 2013.
Win 15 Microsoft Surface Pro 3’s for your favorite school!
You’ve told us how much you love using Office Mix to bring your lessons to life online, and we’ve been awed by the lessons and creativity of the mixes you’ve created. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce our Lessons to Life Contest, which is accepting entries through September 28th. You could win up to 15 Microsoft Surface Pro 3 devices to donate to the school of your choice!
Here’s how it works: Build a lesson in PowerPoint 2013, use Office Mix to spice it up, and share it on OfficeMix.com. We’re looking for mixes across Arts, Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies, and you can build just about any K-12 lesson you want within those categories (just make sure it’s shorter than 10 minutes). We’ll select 15 finalists based on how creative they are, how originally they use Office Mix, the overall quality of the mix, and the mix’s applicability to learning. We’ll then open them up to voting by the community starting October 13th. The Grand Prize winner will win 15 Microsoft Surface Pro 3 devices to donate to a K-12 school, and five lucky First Prize winners will each win one Microsoft Surface Pro 3 to donate. All the prizes go to the schools designated by the winners.
Now here’s the good part: You can enter up to five new mixes per day, and each entry is another chance to win. And when it’s time to vote, you can vote for multiple mixes, up to one vote per day. The contest is open to nearly every adult in the U.S.—teachers, students, parents, family, and friends. (See here for the official rules and eligibility requirements.) So enter early and enter often for more chances to win!
By the way, here are just some examples of the mixes we’ve seen:
Export analytics to Excel
One of your top feature requests is now available! You can now export mix analytics to Microsoft Excel. Simply log on to OfficeMix.com, click My Mixes, then click Uploaded Mixes and then select the mix you want to analyze. You’ll see an icon that lets you download the analytics as an Excel file. You can view both slide and quiz analytics, and you can filter and pivot to your heart’s content.
Easy sharing to Pinterest
We heard your feedback! Now you can share mixes to Pinterest in addition to Facebook, Twitter, and Google+. Just click Share and select the social network(s) you want to share to.
Do you have a mix you’d like to post to your blog? With the embed function, it’s as simple as “click, copy and paste.”
