Over the last 12 months, we’ve transformed Office from a suite of desktop applications to a complete, cross-platform, cross-device solution for getting work done. In January, we delivered the Office apps for Android tablets—and we’re really proud of our 4+ rating in the Google Play store! Today I’m pleased to announce the preview for Word, Excel and PowerPoint for Android phones.
Millions of people take handwritten notes in OneNote thanks to digital inking capabilities across popular devices including the iPad, Windows tablets and Android tablets. In fact, OneNote for Windows has supported handwriting recognition since 2006. Starting today, you can now search your handwritten notes that are in OneNote notebooks saved to OneDrive–just like you can search through typed text and text within images.
While advances in technology over the last 30 years have been immense, the state of the art in email non-delivery reports (NDRs) is still just an homage to 1982—overly technical and ill-designed for the modern email user. But that’s about to change. Over the next several months, NDRs generated by Office 365 will be enhanced to make it easier to understand and quickly fix message delivery issues.
A company’s most important assets are its people—YOU. The knowledge and experience of you and your colleagues collectively brings great value to your company. And as you communicate and work out loud together within Office 365, the value of your work can be surfaced and discovered by others in Delve. Today, we are announcing enhancements to Office 365 that leverage Delve for easier people-based discovery and greater self-expression.
Today, Office 365 provides robust email protection against spam, viruses and malware with Exchange Online Protection (EOP). But as hackers around the globe launch increasingly sophisticated attacks, many organizations are seeking tools that provide advanced protection. That’s why we are pleased to introduce Exchange Online Advanced Threat Protection (ATP), a new email filtering service that provides additional protection against specific types of advanced threats.
We are now living in a mobile world where devices outnumber people. To be productive when you’re on the go, you need access to the data and applications that allow you to be effective while untethered from your workspace or home. At Microsoft, with our mobile-first, cloud-first strategy, we strive to provide our customers with the services, applications and data that roam wherever they do.
