It would be great if you could make this "On-premises, cloud, or hybrid" (I think "On-premises, hybrid, or cloud" might be the right order based on customer requirements) clearer across all of the SharePoint properties at Microsoft. As you undoubtedly know, there's a LOT of uncertainty about this in the marketplace. IMO, making these statements on blogs is too obscure - get it out in front.
Thanks for the feedback, Marc. The title order was a "build up" of sorts, as you have one, or the other, or both. The uncertainty is surprising, but we certainly are hearing the feedback, hence we start with the blog post. There a lot of activity across the board no matter where #SharePoint is deployed. You just see it in Cloud first per that normal platform cadence. Keep an eye out for each domain's natural cadence...
So there will be no further SharePoint on-prem version, just service pack and cumulative updates :-).
Where can I find the change log for SharePoint online?
For small business it would be great if SharePoint online could directly communicate with 2012 Server Essentials without installing SharePoint onprems.
Ideally the server should be able to keep everything on sync with the cloud and make it available at LAN speeds for those with a physical connection.
I would guess that's something that can be done with a full onprems SharePoint Server, but what Small Business need is that capability to be there with a simple one-click option: "connect server to SharePoint Online".
Am I dreaming?
