As promised, we’ve been busting our tails to make the Office Web Apps on Windows Live available worldwide and we’re nearly there.
Starting today, people in over 150 more countries can use the Web Apps to view, edit, and share Office documents from anywhere with a browser and an internet connection. This includes viewing, editing, and sharing Office document attachments in Hotmail. The 150 new locations include India, Indonesia, Israel, Malaysia, Mexico, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, and Thailand.
Next month is the global finale – when the Web Apps will reach the entire world, with a roll-out to all remaining markets in Central and South America, including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Puerto Rico, and Venezuela.
We are very pleased with how quickly we’ve been able to accomplish this goal. March is just nine months since launch. Here’s the history:
If you’re one of the more than 30 million people who are using the Web Apps, we’d love to hear from you on the Web Apps Facebook page at www.facebook.com/officewebapps. Join the conversation and let us know what you think. To get started, or for more on the Web Apps, you can go to www.office.com/webapps. For all the latest updates you can follow us right here at the Web Apps team blog.

I love the web apps but your insistence on windows live, sky Drive, IE, doesn't let them fit into my yahoo, dropbox and chrome world
Hi (other) Rob,
The Office Web Apps are also available outside of SkyDrive. For example on SharePoint and Facebook. They also do not require Internet Explorer as other browsers like FireFox, Chrome, and Safari are supported. (As was discussed in earlier blog posts.)
Could you clarify, what is the difference between Office Web Apps and Docs.com?
Thanks.
How can I get evaluation for office web apps?
www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx
this is
1) beta
2) requires serial; serial in document "..deployment" leads to "evaluation expired"
Hi Dmitry,
Unless you absolutely must try the locally hosted SharePoint version of the Office Web Apps, you can test them for free on SkyDrive. Just go to http://office.live.com and sign in using your LiveID. :)
