Office 2010 goes public today! A lot of the work we did in Office Web Apps is a part of the Office 2010 release and we are really excited. Last year I wrote about some of the ways Office Web Apps and Office 2010 complement each other.
When we announced our browser support we heard from many of you that we left out Chrome. A big part of supporting a browser is spending the time to properly test our apps in that browser and then fixing any issues we encounter. We’re pleased to announce that we’ve tested Office Web Apps in Chrome and have fixed several issues. If you love Chrome, we want you to use Office Web Apps in Chrome. If you find issues that we missed, use the feedback links in the web apps to tell us about the issues.
Office Web Apps are also becoming a part of Hotmail! Over the next few months more and more Hotmail users will be able to view supported Office file attachments using Office Web Apps. It will also be easy to move attachments into SkyDrive.

How do I get out of Microsoft Web Apps on my hotmail account? Now I cannot print an attachement! I am really screwed here. My business has grown down to zip. I want my old hotmail account operations back. How do I remove Web Apps?
Maybe my last plea for help did not post. My hotmail account has been taken over by Microsoft Web Apps which does not allow me to save or print, much less work with, anything sent to me in an attachment. I am lost without my old hotmail. I am going to have to move to another email account if I cannot get retro-fitted back to my old hotmail account. This is such a drag. Does anyone have a solution yet??
@Abigail, you can download attachments by clicking the download link in the email. The UI Is a bit finicky because the box surrounding the download link is also clickable and opens the web app. We are aware of the issue and will improve the UI but hopefully you will now be able to successfully download your files.
Any hopes of being able to use Office Web Apps on the iPad in the near future?
The Word Web Apps feature on my Hotmail is extremely annoying. I am unable to save, even a simple word document, to my desktop. What can I do to remove this feature? I never plan to use it.
@Donna, you can bypass Word Web App and download attachments by clicking the download link in the email. The UI Is a bit finicky because the box surrounding the download link is also clickable and opens the web app. We are aware of the issue and will improve the UI but hopefully you will now be able to successfully download your files.
this tip does not work. Is there a way to GO BACK to the old hotmail... I cannot believe you do not have a solution...
im leaving hotmail, Office Web Apps, Office 2010. it is not good.does anyone no how to get rid of it.
I can't use the "Open in word" button in chrome. It says that it isn't compatible, when it works fine with Firefox and IE8 on the same computer.
