Here is how to subtly change your “background” color in Office 2010 and Office 2007 products (you can do it in earlier versions too). A comment in this blog led to this video, and a confession about how—and why—you should change your color scheme in Office.
Here are instructions to change your color scheme for Outlook 2010, but this will work for any Office 2010 product and these instructions are very similar to Office 2007. For Office 2003 or before, look for your Options menu.

I love your blog posts and make a point to share them with my co-workers. You have a knack for covering material just as it becomes relevant to a situation in my office. I was wondering what program you use to record your computer screen as you demonstrate your tips. I'd love to be able to use that recording software to demonstrate solutions for applications we use, including the entire Office suite, in our office.

Thanks for the kudos! We use Camtasia 7.1 for screenshots in the Office.com group.

Another great video Doug!
Before you can change the color scheme for your presentation, you need to know which elements are associated with which scheme color category. Is there any information on this for 2010? The last information I had was from 2002 which was helpful. Since then I have spent way to much time trying to figure this out. Is there anywhere that I can find out the elements associated with the color category?
Why does the change of a color scheme in Word, change it in all the Office programs? Is this the way it is meant to be?

Yes, Color Scheme works for all Office programs. One setting will work them all.
