The installation of Outlook Social Connector is different from most downloads. Besides downloading Outlook Social Connector (for Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2003; it’s included in Outlook 2010), you must download provider files for each social network you want to connect to. Watch this short video to see how, and see the important links plus an overview of the Outlook Social Connector, below.
Note: To use Facebook in the Outlook Social Connector, you must allow a third party application (which is the default setting). If you have edited these settings in Facebook, you may need to edit them again. On your Facebook home page, click Account, and then click Application Settings.
Written instructions are at Office.com for Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2003.
For more help, ask questions at Microsoft Answers.
UPDATE: Read about the January, 2012 Outlook Social Connector update.
For Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2003, you can download the Outlook Social Connector. Outlook 2010 users will be automatically prompted for an update to use these features. Then visit the provider files homepage at Office.com.

I have Outlook 2010 so I trust that I already have the social outlook connector, I have installed the connector tool for facebook 64-bit (I have windows 7 ultimate 64-bit) so it asks me to restart outlook, but when I do so, nothing happens!
I go back to the people's pane and open the social connector and facebook is not there even after installation and restarting outlook, I have tried removing it and installing it again but no luck, what should I do ??
I have Outlook 2010 and I realize the social connector is a built-in feature in this version. I have been able to connect with LinkedIn, but when I download and run the 'Social Connector Provider for Facebook' (OSCFB-x86-en-us.exe) it says it has to download the Social Connector for Outlook (which is already built into Outlook 2010 remember) and when THAT finishes downloading and runs it says "The expected version of the product was not found on the system."
Is there a compatibility issue with the Connector Provider for Facebook? It can't recognize it's being installed on Outlook 2010?
Will much appreciate your help. Thanks.
Syed: I don't know offhand. Please ask your question at Microsoft Answers, that's where the technical folks have been able to have these types of questions answers:
I have installed Outlook Connector (Office Home and Business 2010 V14 with Windows Ultimate) with Facebook and LinkedIn connectors. Unfortunately the following message appears always after completing access to either social networks; "Could not connect to server". What am I missing?

I'm having the same issue as some of the folks below: e.g. "ok...tried it, and the social connector does not show up in my tools tab! I uninstalled and reinstalled, and still nothing. Hello?"
Curtis: There is no tab for the Social Connector. Under the View tab, look for the People Pane and choose "Normal." Then the information appears below each message in the Reading Pane. For more, go to Microsoft Answers:
