Download our free Office 2010 migration guides

Thinking about upgrading to Microsoft Office 2010?

Each upgrade brings exciting new features, but new versions of your favorite programs can take some getting used to. It's no different for those of us here at Microsoft who create the Office programs than it is for our customers.

To ease the transition, we've put together six handy Office 2010 migration guides to help you step up to the newest versions of Microsoft Access, Excel, OneNote, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.

Update: These handy guides are now available in 36 additional languages. For their free download links, see this blog post.

Whether you're coming from an older version of Office and just want to find the most frequently used commands in a program, or you're entirely new to Office and want a quick overview of how the ribbon works and how to get to the most important things, each guide provides helpful information that we've based on direct feedback from you — our customers.

All six guides are available as separate downloads, so you can grab just the ones you need:

  1. Install the free Adobe Reader (if you don't already have it on your computer).
  2. Browse and download our free Office 2010 migration guides

While you're viewing any guide, you can save a copy of it to your computer for later viewing, navigate through all of its pages (each guide has 7-8 pages in total), zoom in to get a closer view at any of the screenshots, or search for feature names or keywords to quickly find something in the text.

If you find these guides useful, consider sharing this blog post with your colleagues and friends who use Microsoft Office programs.

Please leave us a comment below to let us know what you like about these guides or how we might improve upon them. Thank you!

  • very nice guides. Any chance on german versions? Would be great to share with our customers

    Harald

  • Hi Harald, thanks for checking out the guides and leaving a comment. This is our first experiment with this type of downloadable content, so for the time being we only have the English versions available. Just curious — which German Office 2010 programs do you use most often?

  • Getting them now. Not sure where to tell you about the Interactive Command References - the Office 2007 ones were flash applets - standalone, easy to carry and show off and distribute to people. The 2010 ones are way overdone Silverlight applets, not standalone - need to be installed on a computer - to distribute, you have to convince people to install, to demo, you have to have admin rights to install on a classroom or public machine. Step backwards.

  • Michael, most used: Word, Excel and Outlook. For all other programs the users most likely are a bit more experienced and can more easily adapt.

  • Amanda: you can download and install to a network loction and the people can run it from there. No need for Admin rights. I just did it.
