Writer's Guide to Office: Control line spacing in Word 2007

Like certain family members, Word 2007 has one or two features that try my patience -- foremost being the way it handles line spacing. But I'm back in control now thanks to Joannie Stangeland's latest "Writer's Guide to Office" video. She shares her techniques for controlling line spacing in Word 2007 when typing or pasting text.

This video has the added benefit of having been filmed at the Montford Press in West Seattle, a temple to the art of letterpress printing. Just looking at the trays of type can warm a wordsmith's blood. (You can learn more about the Press and the series in this post from Michael Oldenburg's blog, Nota Bene.)

Keep an eye on the Office Channel to see what else in the series you might have missed (it's not just about Word). There are more in the hopper, so I'll  let you know as soon as each one goes live.

Is there a particular writing or organizing process you could use some help with?

  • I am no word guru thats for sure, but that youtube clip just reaffirmed how annoying Word is with formatting things how it wants NOT letting me format when I want, I mean who wants to have to write a document and then have to unformat lines spaces? Yeah sure I could set my templates to a new default, but Microsoft could have left things alone too.... First MS wants to dictate to all their user base built over many years that they must use the new ribbon bar and they also want to change the styles we were comfortable with also .... Not wise Microsoft not wise at all :(
