The PowerPoint team here had a great idea: Instead of relying on Help articles, why not use PowerPoint 2007 to explain and show off PowerPoint 2007?

So they hired Julie Terberg, a presentation design expert and PowerPoint MVP, to create 157 top-notch example slides grouped into several downloadable decks. Each slide includes step-by-step instructions for recreating its look and style. The free decks cover everything from static text effects and graphics to backgrounds. Download the example decks like any other template from Office Online. Whether you're in a hurry or have all the time in the world, these beauties will help convey your message with clarity and style.

To preview each deck, read its companion article. (Toward the end of each article you'll find links to the others.) Here's a favorite:

And last but not least, I'm glad to add that the wonderful photographs Julie used for her examples are courtesy of Microsoft's own Bill Staples and Colin Wilcox.

We're always looking for ways to help you succeed, so please tell us what you think of “The Terberg Project." If you have other suggestions or questions, send them too!

  • The effects are amazing and the instructions are precise. While it is a good cook book where one can follow and reproduce, it is not easy to really learn from it. It would have been an even more valuable teaching material if the instructions are organised with explanations, goals and subgoals.

  • OUTSTANDING examples of going "beyone the basics" with PowerPoint. The instructions were excellent and easy to follow along...this will have a major impact on how I produce PowerPoint slides in the future! Thanks for sharing....Julie is amazing!!

  • After stumbling on these fabulous, mind-blowing animations and text effects, I applied them to my boss's recent national presentation that appealed to his cutting edge style. Here's the problem: When I attempt to e-mail this 24MB file, I get an error message that reads:

FILE QUARANTINED! The original contents of this file have been replaced with this message because of its characteristics.

    File name: 'LOWERY_Legislative Lessons_ATA 2009 NEW.pptx'

    Virus name: 'Exceedingly compressed size'

I also attempted to upload the file to Sharepoint - same thing, won't upload due to the "virus". HAS ANYONE ELSE ENCOUNTERED THIS PROBLEM??
