  • Like the tip, however, i have tried to browse to My Collection so i can insert the photo and cannot find the correct folder. the only way i can see to make this work is to copy the picture to the desktop and then import into messenger. Am i missing a trick? What about animated pictures.. how do you get those into messenger

  • Any suggestions for where I can get help with the Office Online Beta page always saying it can't detect Office 2007, and attempts to log in using Passport always redirect to a page that IE7 can't load?

  • Remember that you have to have the bits installed before you can see deep into the new website. Go here to download the bits: www.microsoft.com/.../default.mspx

  • The new windows office is good except the outlook has a major problem with activesync. It crashes regulalry and if you unload the office and reisntall office 2003 outlook will not work - mapi32.dll is corrupt or the wrong version. gerard.jackson@xtra.co.nz

  • I bought a new laptop and new version of Office 2003. I created a backup (.pst) to get my Outlook to the new system. Where do I put it and how do I open it?

  • Thanks, Mark - I do appreciate the plug. And folks, if (and when!) you do buy (and, I assume, read) the book, send me feedback about it (crabby@microsoft.com). I may get started on a new one and I want to see what is and isn't working for you with regard to content, writing, style, and all that stuff that I pretend to pay attention to. (Thanks again, Marky-Mark.)

  • Your demos are the best. To get them in my RSS agregattor is the best. Thanks!

  • Well I know it isn't popular, but I think MS should look at more creative "secure" distrabution methods rather than charging. I know bittorrent would come with some risk, but it would save you lots of money and you would still get testers.

  • I can see the dollars of it..... but with a Beta you are asking for the users help in debugging you product. Without beta testers where would your software be. OFFICE 2007 would be OFFICE 2010. Giving the software infurs that we a BUYING it! Reguardless of the price if we are going to pay for it there should be some type of support or warranty HA HA LOL! I think Bill, Steve and company and afford the cost for letting us test drive there products. I did get the FREE version of the Beta and I got a DVD in my Action Pack Subscription. But if I had to pay for the Betas I most likely not order it.

  • Boohoo, $1.50. It's a Beta. Half the people who downloaded it probably did so either so that they can have an essentially fully functional version of Office without having to pay for it, or because they thought it would be cool to spend 5 minutes looking at it, then never use it again. They provide no value to MS. MS provide alternate ways to acquire the beta if you're really interested. If you want the easy route, pay your way. If you don't really care about doing the beta testing and you just want a shiny toy, then the beta's not for you, so either get the DVD, or go without.

  • DRM enable some p2p like bittorrent software, secure the downloadable software with checksums and certificates and let it loose .... sometimes it's just so frustrating having to register to very useful webcasts ... people are very fickle about these things ... otherwise MS is going to have a content distribution problem soon which opensource and others don't have risulting in a competitive issue .....

  • A few comments here about going with bittorrent. For starters, we are happy with our internal system given the security and functionality it enables us. Still, this appears to be more about "are you playing with it or testing it?"

  • Hope you guys will be online soon!

  • After not too reluctantly paying and recieving a 'We're sorry, but you are not authorized to complete this download' error message half way through the download makes me wonder what did I really pay for. Downloaded the file via 'unofficial channels' later, no cost at all.
