Today, we're introducing a new offering for university and college students called Office 365 University. Available in the first quarter of 2013, Office 365 University will be offered online, at retail locations and at Microsoft Stores in 52 markets worldwide.
Starting today, eligible students can buy Office University 2010 or Office University for Mac 2011 and receive a free subscription to Office 365 University when it becomes available.
Because you shouldn't take our word for it, we gave higher-education students an early look at Office 365 University and here are some of their reactions:
"I was already happy with the Office 365 Home Premium prices, so when I heard the education pricing my jaw hit the floor." - Devin Pastoor, University of Maryland
Full- and part-time enrolled university and college students, faculty and staff in accredited institutions are eligible to purchase Office 365 University.
Higher-education students, faculty and staff must verify their eligibility online as part of the Office 365 University product activation process. (Note: Verification is post-purchase for all channels except directly from Microsoft Store, where we offer a pre-purchase verification.)

To whom it concerns... is this offer available to students in Mexican Universities?
How long is the free subscription? 1 month? Couldn't find confirmation when trying to buy it.
Is this available to students in Germany? Where can it be purchased?
Whats the international pricing?
The article says:
"Available in the first quarter of 2013, Office 365 University will be offered online, at retail locations and at Microsoft Stores in 52 markets worldwide."
What about those that subscribe and then graduate after 4 years?
Do you have to then purchase a full license? Do you just keep the suite, but lose the Office 365 component?
Can you please list the 52 markets where Office 365 for University will be made available?
I work at a major university with a site license and we are transitioning from live@edu to office 365 soon. What, if any, impact does this announcement have on us? I'm particularly interested in the Sky Drive since our accounts are supposedly not going to have a Sky Drive once we transition (they are federated accounts, so logins go through us, not Microsoft). I find it somewhat disjointed that students are using Microsoft-based email accounts, but they won't be able to log into Microsoft Services like SkyDrive through those accounts, especially on Windows 8 since so much of Win 8 is built around account integration.
"Four years: If school takes more than four years, renew once for a total of eight years of Office 365 University."
Would this renewal be free, discounted, or full cost?
It would be full cost - $79.99 US, and you need to be enrolled in a university or college at renewal.
This is what Office 365 Home Premium is intended for ($99.99 US for an entire household and installation on up to 5 PCs/Macs. Check out this post for more information blogs.office.com/.../the-new-office-365-subscriptions-for-consumers-and-small-businesses.aspx
Yes.
Would you please breakdown '52 markets'? Is this avaiable in Japan? Many users out of US read this blog.Thank you.
Eligible students, faculty or staff members can renew their subscription to Office 365 University once at full cost. They will still be required to provide proof of eligibility.
It will be available in Germany. You can get it online or at retail.
