On the Page Layout tab, in the Arrange group, click the Align, and then click Grid Settings. The Drawing Grid dialog box opens, and you can change the gridline settings.

Word doesn't support printing gridlines, because they are an alignment tool as opposed to a graphical element.

You can work around this by creating a full-page table spaced the same as the gridlines you're using and then showing borders within the table.

If you created a new Excel object, press CTRL+A, right-click, click Format Cells, and then click the Border options that you want (be sure to choose a line weight that's heavy enough). If you're linking to content that's in a separate Excel file, you should be able to set the cell borders in the Excel file.
You can add the Grid Settings command to a custom tab on the Ribbon. For more information on how to do that, see blogs.office.com/.../make-it-yours-customizing-the-word-ribbon.aspx.

The one way (that worked for me) is to open a document in an earlier version, adjust gridline attributes (Draw toolbar), save file then open in Word2010 the new Gridline attributes (spacing) will be there.

You need to open your Normal.dotm file, select the View Gridlines check box, and then save the file and close it. Note that the only way to reverse this is to open the Normal.dotm file again, clear the check box, and then save and close the file.

To find the Normal.dotm file, search for Normal.dotm.

Best wishes,

I'm standing in for Joannie this week. My understanding is that you can change the distance between gridlines in a table, but that you cannot change the distance between gridlines on a page.

If anyone has a different answer, would you post here? Thank you!

Joannie will be back to answer your questions next week.
