We've been seeing questions about how to set up and print an envelope--not a slew of envelopes in a mail merge, but just one.So our Word of the week is envelopes.Let's take a look:

Not sure what you mean.

In Word XP, I was able to print the POSTNET barcode for the delivery address on my envelopes. That seems to have disappeared in Word 2010, or am I missing where to find that option? If this has been removed, I'm disappointed because it would seem to enable the USPS to process my mailings quicker than without it.
What if you use a logo as the return address. WORD 2010 is not accepting a .btmp or .jpg file in that place.

That option was removed. However, here is some information on how to add bar codes. The article is for Publisher, but I think the process is similar: office.microsoft.com/.../add-postal-bar-codes-to-labels-or-envelopes-in-publisher-HP001126972.aspx.

Good point! I'm trying to check on whether there is another way to do this. If not, it's a good feature idea.
Re: Bar Codes I can't believe you're saying I need to purchase a bar code font when this software is already so expensive! I still have XP installed on another computer, can't you just tell me that file name?
I cannot get the word 2010 to just print the envelope. It prints 2 pages one envelope andthe blank page. how do I stop this from occuring
Bruce, I'll have to look into this and get back to you.
from windows XP I am now on windows 7 & finding it difficult to find envelopes & mailings in order to print single envelope for a letter

The Envelopes command is on the Mailings tab. Click the Mailings tab, and then the Envelopes command is in the Create group on the far left.
I cannot get the address to be single spaced. It keeps coming up double space. How do I change spacing?

Good question. Can you tell me which version of Word you're using? In the meantime, if you click Add to Document, instead of clicking Print right away, you can change the formatting of your envelope text before you print.
why show the address book in envelope formats when you cannot insert an address onto the addressee; same as i used to do in outlook express? frank
sorry i sent wrong email address question still same why cannot we select the addressees address from the address book shown same as outlook express frank
Frank --
Honestly, that's a great question. I can insert data from the address book, but I'm having a hard time getting it to show the addresses. Readers, any experience with this?
