There was an eror accessing help for me... I had to reinstall to sort it out!!
I'm having an issue with normal.dotm in our environment. Each employee has their own space %homeshare% associated with their id's in Active Directory. The normal.dotm is placed in each employee's %homeshare% location (represented with Y:). The Y: drive follows the client so he/she can logon to any PC and get that personal network drive space in out environment. I can place the normal.dotm file there and point to it. I can even customize it and push it out to all clients. The issue appears when I (or anyone) logon to another PC for the first time. When I do, Word completely ignores the custom normal.dotm and reverts back to defaults. (example: AutoCorrect options revert back to defaults soon as I logon to a different PC for the first time). I verify Word is still pointing to the proper location. User Templates pointing to Y:\MSTemplates.
I use OCT to setup a custom deploy and tell it to point to the Y: drive location to get the custom normal.dotm settings. I have tried Y:\MSTemplates, %homeshare%\MSTemplates, \\server\%userid%\MSTemplates, \\server\actual_user_id\MSTemplates and none seem to work.
Any ideas?
-Thanks, Charles
@Charles:
Don't use OCT for such things. Instead I recommend using a software deployment tool or the login script to copy over your default normal.dotm ONLY if it does not exist yet in the homeshare of the user. OCT has even more disadvantages so I don't even use it to deploy customized settings. Instead I use a reg file. Main reason for that is I need to be able to do MANY identical customizations to an Office ProPlus and an Office Standard installation. But this would require different MSP files generated by OCT which would mean I would have to do all the settings for the Standard edition manually again for the Proplus edition...
Hi guys, I can't seem to find an answer to this issue. I have a word template which SpellCheck does not work in. I press the spellcheck and it says complete... but it does not actually spell check it. I copied some of the text out - into a new word document - and it detects and underlines the misspelled words. Any thoughts on how to resolve this? I do not want to burn through a Support Ticket. D.
Unfortunately we're being moved to Office 2007 which I dislike because of the ribbons, the fact it wants to do everything for you, & others. Now, I see that when you are going to Open a file it also does not have "Favorites" you can click on for the files/folders used most often so that will now mean drilling down to find my files in order to open them. Am I missing where the "Favorites" has gone?
Thanks for any help!
victoid - When you click on the Office Button in the top left-hand corner of Word, you will see a list of "Recent Documents." This sounds like what you are looking for. New to Word 2007 are the Pins to the right of each document in this list which keep the document in the list no matter how many other documents you open. -Jonathan (MS)
I believe victoid is trying to locate the equivalent to "My Places" that in Word '03 is found at: File > Open > Tools > Add to "My Places". I too hope this is not lost functionality.
on Vista, the UI for adding new places to the Favorite Links section of the File Open dialog is to drag them over. Hope these help.
I am running Office 2003 and recently installed the Office 2007 Compatibility Pack. I also installed Service Pack 3 for Windows XP and Internet Explorer 7 so I'm not certain what did what. In any case, many web magazine emails in HTML are no longer displaying properly. The HTML code is often displaying, especially for images instead of the way it always displayed (as they want it to) before. I read that this is a "feature" of Outlook 2007. Did the Office 2007 Compatibility Pack do this or was I blessed with this feature from one of the other updates?
Hi, I have Office 2007 trial version on my computer. now i can´t work in my documents because i didn´t purchase for full version but installed office 2003. The problem is that although i´ve said "always open with office 2003" when i doubleclick in a word-document it opens with 2007. can someone help me? many thanks!
I am using Word 2010. I want to insert a picture watermark only the front page, I know how to insert picture watermarks and I know how to insert watermarks on certain pages by using section breaks. When I put a text watermark on the front page all is fine but when I try it with a picture the picture appears on all pages.
Any help?
Cheers
