Ever been staring at Word and thought, how do I create/merge labels? Don't lie, I know at least some of you have (it is the number 4 requested how do I topic). So, to those of you thinking, how do I "insert awesome ability here," I dedicate this post.
I introduce to you the top 25 how do I issues in Word as of today (25-50 coming in a separate post to keep you on the edge of your seats). This is some terrific work done by our friends in UA (Genevieve in particular, who built up the list) and I hope you find all these resources to be helpful. Some of these issues kill me because it means we aren't doing a good enough job getting the word out (booooo shameless pun).
As another aside, you will notice that Jon only answered a few question for his parents in the last post. I am answering 25 questions, some of which my parents might not have even known they wanted to ask. Clearly, 25 > 1, and I love my parents more than Jon.

You award 50 points to people that ask about customizing the Ribbon, then point them to an article that says, "You can't, dummy, Microsoft knows best." I don't get it. If the Ribbon's so great, shouldn't you be taking points away from people that want to tinker with perfection? Alternately, if the Ribbon isn't so great, aren't you pointing to a huge gaping flaw in it?
For companies with non-English editions it'd be really helpful to have localized versions of the cool interactive stuff from 3), i.e. in German. And maybe even for transition from Word 2000/XP. To 16) you might also want to add support.microsoft.com/.../en-us
You asked how people like the Mailings Tab and...well, the tab itself doesn't bother me but the overall mail merge procedures irritate the heck out of me! It seems a lot less user friendly than in past versions. Maybe I am just using it incorrectly? I get the feeling that Microsoft designed the merge function for people that reuse the same data over and over in different letters where-as I use the same letter over and over and modify parts of the data (for example I may mail something to the same company so I keep the name and address fields the same but I need to change what customer it pertains to each time I send it. I like to have a record for each company I do business with and the ability to modify the entry but not the overall letter which stays the same each and every time). The mail merge does not work well with this. It seems like it could be a lot more efficient.
Sorry, you asked - I answered.
This URL is bad: office.microsoft.com/.../HP012265131033.aspx for inserting page numbers.
How do I get Office to do my work for me? :)
Easy one... msdn.microsoft.com/office ;)
I strongly second Stefanword2k's suggestion, of German translations for the "Get Started" ribbon and especially the flash based demos on where to find Office 2003 commands in Office 2007. To use it with a German version you must guess the English name of German word menu commands and then translate everything back and forth --> unusable useful for mainstream users :-(
You mentioned the converter that allows 2007 documents to be saved in 2003 format. Is there any stand-alone tool that does that conversion (outside MS Word). I'm interested in server-side conversion from 2007 format to 2003 format. By the way, I wonder if you could answer another question too: can a Rich Text Content Control contain other content controls? I'm interested in a named section of a document which can itself contain placeholders for "customer name" etc.
