Hi Jonathon, Thanks for starting this. No comments at this stage other than I am very happy with the ability to hide the ribbon between sessions that was added by the B2TR. Also, someone had to be the first to post a comment so it might as well be me. Regards,
Doug Robbins
Hey Doug - Thanks for breaking the ice!
So, are incorrect possessive apostrophes in level 2 headings part of the forest, or am I just hung up on the trees? The document looks very snazzy, but Sara looks a little illiterate.
Hey Daiya - Well stated. You’ll see a decline of errant apostrophes moving forward.
Hi, thanks for the great pics showing the effects you are talking about. The smart theme adoption when pasting is great, the way I've always imagined it shoudl work - now it does. In the rare cases where the user does not want the pasted object to take on the document theme is there a way to override the default theme adoption behaviour?. The scenario I imagine is one I have performed sometimes - want to compare two graphs in the one document, one from my company which I want to have the document (my companies) theme and one from some other figures which I want themed according to some other companies colours etc. This is not uncommon when reporting on vendor proposals etc. Thanks for your blog, look forward to your next.
Hi Jonathan Is there anyway, you can show us a demo on best usage of the new features that was added in Word 2007? Can/Will those files be shared as templates?
Hi
Johnathan, like the 21st document stuff. We have a large number of documents that use the "field" functions and the "Mergefield" command and want to move these to using the "Content Control" which will allow us the leverage to have nicer looking documents like this document as the content control allows formated data. The reason we use this system, especially the "if" statement as this allows the document to very dynamic and can be based upon "ask" questions or "mergefield" information as an example. The functions are found on the Ribbon Insert, Quick Parts, Field.

“is there a way to override the default theme adoption behaviour?” Jonathan Bailor: Yes. After pasting the object, you will see a little clipboard UI on object. If you click on this clipboard and select “keep source formatting”, the object will not take on the Theme of the document it has been pasted into.
“Is there anyway, you can show us a demo on best usage of the new features that was added in Word 2007?” Jonathan Bailor: Hey prabhupr – What do you mean by “best usage”? I hope our existing and upcoming posts will provide examples of great ways to use the features new to Word 2007, but I don’t know if we’ll ever be able to say our examples are the best examples :)
Jonathan Bailor: Hey PeterT – There’s definitely some cool opportunities around leveraging content controls and field codes together. What do mean by content controls allowing for “formatted data”? Are you referring to the fact that you can format the data contained within rich text content controls? I ask because you can also apply formatting to merge fields and have that formatting applied to the data which populates that field when merged with an external data source. For an example of this, check out the ‘merge templates’ included with the Beta 2 Technical Refresh version the Word 2007 (create new document based on any of the installed templates with the word ‘merge’ in the title). These templates are quite nice looking and the nice look is applied to the merge fields as well as regular text and text within the content controls.
Documentation on themes and styles, from a designer rather than a user perspective, is difficult to find if it exists. Perhaps a post on that subject. Thanks.

I have an issue regarding Word changes in the b2tr. I can not change text direction in text boxes anymore. I just tried it in beta2 and it works seemlessly. But in b2tr, the button is disabled no matter what. So is the button to rotate the text box which worked fine in beta2. I dont know if this is the right place to ask, but could anybody help me in this regard? Is anyone else experiencing the same issue? Thanks for you help.
Yes, I'm also concerned about the grammar and spelling in the document. It's appalling! You should have someone check these posts before you send them out to the world for all to see. You should be especially ashamed to get 'affect' and 'effect' mixed up (first sentence). Dave
If Sara wanted to make a professional impression, I think she should have spent those five minutes proofreading rather than formatting. Proofreading in a WYSIWYG environment is difficult. Good typesetting, which makes reading easy, can make mistakes harder to spot. That's one reason why I write in a text editor and use a separate pass to handle formatting.
