There are many great new features in ppt 2010.

I am Very disappointed with the "new animations" Since many animations are missing! Example The "stretch" animation is one I have used to make arrows, lines and obljetcs aniumate in a sequence to build an obect or make it change shape.

In addition they are limited to one animation per object on the slide. For instance, I can no longer shrink and object as it shrinks move it to another position on the slide.

While you brag about all the video features that can be done with the new PowerPoint, why are manyof very basic object animations cut?

As a professional producing trainings with PowerPoint and using the animations to create effects to objects I can no longer produce the same trainings I did with 2007! In fact they don't even display properly now! What was once a work of art is now a hodge podge of strange effects!

It seems like the program has been dumbed down for the home user and the professional is left with half the features it once had. I have to use 5 to 7 mouse clicks to create one animation effect and I used to be able to open a click box or check off a single menu. Now I have to open the Animation Pane and use the Ribbon to get to an animation and open the control box multiple times to change the effects properties. Where's the "make it like 2007" button? How can I get back the animations you took away? Do you have an add-on pack?

Hey AmyM,

Here's the key you are looking for, and how to add it:

1. Open your registry editor (type regedit in a command shell)

2. Nagivate to Current User->Software->Microsoft->Office->14.0->Options

3. Add a new DWORD and call it "DisableSpriteClipping"

4. Set the value to 1 (Hex or Dec, doesn't matter)

The responses have ranged from no answer to "You're on the wrong board". Is the engineering team really here?

Belated congratulations on the 2010 release! Great product.

I used 2010 in beta and found an issue which your developers found a fix for, but I was told it involved "setting a reg-key", and that I should contact Microsoft after release to get instructions. The problem still persists in the released version, and the contact info for the gentleman I was working with at Microsoft is no longer valid.

I am happy to see the engineering team here. There are a lot of very knowledgeable/helpful people at the newsgroups, but even the MVPs can't help with this one.

I'm an engineer on the PowerPoint team, and we're working really hard to understand the pain points you experience when building presentations. Thank you very much for sharing the feedback in the post you referenced. The more information you share regarding the situaion, the more we can do to find a fix. It would be helpful, for example, to see an example of a slide where the "Esc" key doesn't deselect an object - I've checked a lot of 2007 and 2010 installations and haven't been able to reproduce this behavior.

Perhaps you could share your email address and we can work through some of these together. Again, thanks for speaking up.
