Hello, i have video's that i have used in my 2007 power point, but when i try them in 2010 they stop with a payback error both from a link or embedding them.. they are in a wmv format. they run still fine in 2007 and by themself.

Hi John, Thanks for your comment, and I apologize for the problems you're encountering in getting video backgrounds to work. The experience around video backgrounds across slides is something we've definitely heard about from you and many other customers, but we, unfortunately, didn't make improvements around this area for PowerPoint 2010. For videos that aren't playing across slides, we should support .mov files as well as transparency and alpha channel. Let us know if you're still running into any of these problems when the video is only on a single slide. As a workaround, you might be able to use our "trim video" feature to insert the same video on several slides to mimic the effect of having the video playing across slides. I've noticed that when playing back video I see a poster frame (from approx 1 sec in) at the start of the video, anyway to get rid of this?. I've tried using the 'fade in' (which doesn't appear to work) hasn't cured it. Video as a background

If I set the video to run for three slides, when I cue the next slide the video comes to the front - covering the slide contents. Would be really cool if the Video continued to play in the background when you changed slides. Now that .mov seems to be supported, are there any plans to support 32bit video (video + alpha channel)? Is there a way to play an endlessly looped animation eg a spinning logo, over a number of aor all slides in a ppt 2010 presentation? If so, what would be the best format?

I love a lot of the new features of PP 2010 but for some reason I can not get my audio file to play across all the slides. I've checked to make sure I've got it set up correctly, etc... but it stops at the end of slide 1. In 07, it plays fine. Help????

@MB - We've taken a closer look at this and there's a mismatch between the image types decoded by Lagarith and what we currently support. In PowerPoint 2010, what you can do to get this file to work is to go to the File menu and run "Optimize Compatibility". From here, once the video is optimized, the video should playback and all the video features should be available. Let me know if this doesn't work or you run into any other problems. Thanks for the report, this is something we're going to continue to work on to improve compatibility across many different file types.

@Jackie - We'd definitely like to try and figure out what's going on there. If you could share your file with me, that'd help us investigate further. You can send it to allhuan AT microsoft DOT com. Any information yo ucan provide about your setup (what codecs are available, etc.) would also help. @MB: From a quick investigation, it seems like there's some conflict between your Lagarith codec and the QuickTime player. It seems to go away when you uninstall QuickTime. Clearly, this is not an ideal solution, so we're going to investigate this further to understand where the problem's happening and what we can do to address it. Apologies to both of you for the problems you're running into, we really appreciate the comments, though, so please do keep letting us know when we fall short. Thanks!

I have a video file I created that can be inserted and played back in ppt 03 and 07. The ppt file created in 03 or 07 will open and play back the video in ppt 10. However if I attempt to insert the same video file using ppt 10 the file appears to playback (the playback bar moves forward) but the video is completely transparent. The codec used is Lagarith lossless codec.

Created powerpoint presentation with audio but when I save as a video, an incorrect audio clip plays at random points. Looks perfect when I preview the slide show just gets messed up when saving as video. Any ideas what is going on?
