There are two issues with Outlook that are frustrating concerning antiquated backup/transfer:

1) Having the PST file hide in a hidden folder, rather than, by default, be under "My Documents" or asking the user where they want the folder placed. This is an accident waiting to happen as far as forgetting to backup email (which I just experienced recently--my fault).

2) Create a clear and separate option to easily backup calendar, contact, and email separately, particularly in this age of IMAP, where contacts do not come with the cloud package.

My ideal would be a PST profile folder located under User/Documents/Email/Profile... With three files called "Contacts_ProfileX.pst" "Calendar_ProfileX.pst" and "Email_ProfileX.pst".

Each could also be independently password encrypted for additional security, and also imported onto another computer without need for the rest of the file size/info. Just find and copy the particular file. These could even alternatively/ideally be uploaded to an IMAP profile.

It's as if Outlook still had one step in the 90s. Thanks for listening to my rant.

I still have an ongoing issue:

The option "in folders other than Inbox, save replies with original messages" has to be reset when I have shut down and then reopen Outlook. Option is great - but hate having to do three clicks to get to the option setting, unset & reset it (already has the check flag, but just doesn't work), get back to the main option screen, change the time (or any other "first class" option to enable the "Apply" button, and then apply the setting again. This option does not stay set no matter what I do.

Hi... I wonder if you would please comment on (or create a new blog about) the support of Exchange Online Archives in the various SKU's of Microsoft Outlook... This has been a real problem for us trying to figure out which SKU's work and which don't... Invariably, it appears that our volume license versions of Outlook 2007/2010 don't support the Online Archive feature...The Exchange Team blogged about support in blogs.technet.com/.../3411710.aspx and blogs.technet.com/.../3412050.aspx... From a Customer perspective (i.e., me), what is desirable is for Online Archive support to be available in *ALL* SKU's... We've made a previous investment decision in a particular SKU for our volume licenses but seem to locked out of access to the Online Archive support in Outlook... Please help!!! -Scott.
