Has anyone yet figured out a fix for the problem of losing Instant Search in Outlook (I am using Windows 7 & MS Office/Outlook 2007 with Google sync)? There is nothing in the registry re "preventindexing" in my configuration. Many thanks.

Windows 7 does not have the "Windows Search" under the Registry to be able to reset it. ANY suggestions at all?

Just added Office 365 account again and guess what? I can't search any email account folders, it just says - No matches were found foe John. This is just wasing my time I am going to remove the Office 365 and not add it back.

OK, seems this happed after adding an Office 365 account (Exchange account). it seemed to switch off indexing. I went to Control Panel...

1. Removed Office 365 account

1. Closed Outlook

2. Clicked on Uninstall A Program

3. In the next window on the left, clicked on Turn Windows Features On Or Off.

4. In the Windows Features window, I put a tick back in the box for Indexing Service. Click OK.

5. Started Outook again, left running in the backgound for a few minutes (in case indexing needed to take place)

Searching through my mail seems to work ok now in hotmail, live and gmail accounts.

The registry key (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Search) does not exist in my Windows 7 (64bit) with MS Outlook (64bit - MS Office 2010)

I just tried a regedit but when I look for "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Search" I do not see the last folder "\Windows Search" as an option. An suggestions?

Under "\Windows" I only see these folders:

CurrentVersion

DeviceInstall

DriverSearching

Installer

IPSec

Network Connections

NetworkConnectivityStatusIndicator

safer

System

WSDAPI

Folks, these are great questions for Microsoft Answers (answers.microsoft.com/.../default.aspx). This is where I go to get answers and you all have a variety of issues on a variety of platforms and versions and such, so looking for an answer there or asking a question there (being as specific as you can) would be your best bet to getting a satisfactory answer.

I have the same problem : it impossible to get Google Desktop indexation on Outlook 2010 on Windows 7 !!!!

The "PreventIndexingOutlook" dont exist on Register !!!!!

What is the solution???
