The issue is that I want to share this securely and she is only using Live Mail / Live Calendar. Why can we not publish privately (ie. "Only invited users can view this calendar") with other secure Live members? My friend at work does this with Google calendar. I need to find a tool to share my constantly changing work schedule securely with my family's calendar (currently in Live).

Changes:

The Office Online Calendar Sharing Web UI has been removed, meaning you can't view your published calendars on Office Online anymore; this doesn't mean you cannot view them elsewhere. If you try to access the old Office Online Calendar Sharing Web UI, you will be redirected to a help page. Private Published Calendars (Only invited users can subscribe to this calendar) can only be shared with users who have Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2010, and to users that have permission to view your calendar. Public Published Calendars (Anyone can subscribe to this calendar) can be viewed by anyone as long as you share the address/location of your online calendar (Example of URL: webcal://calendars.office.microsoft.com/pubcalstorage/q83dq64z190127/my_sample_calendar.ics; guessing this URL would be extremely hard). You have many options to view/subscribe to public calendars, one option we suggest is Windows Live Calendar; however there are others options. You can subscribe to Public Calendars via Outlook; you can also subscribe to them using a third-party calendar sites that support the subscription to .ics files; there are also other email/calendar applications which allow you to subscribe to online .ics calendar files. Please Note:

We are aware that there are some problems with Windows Live Calendar not updating subscriptions in a timely manner or not at all. We are working with the Windows Live Team on this, and they are expecting a fix to be released in the next two weeks. Questions/Answers: So are you saying "things have already changed, even before the release of Office 2010"? I.E., from now on, the only way to view a published calendar is by logging on with a Windows Live ID?

- No, I am not saying that. There are many other calendar viewing options out there that don't involve signing into a Windows Live ID. As long as you find a calendar site that allows you to subscribe to a .ics file, you can view the calendar. Please note, the calendar will need to be published so everyone can see it; this doesn't mean everyone will see it, it just means when someone tries to access the .ics file of your calendar they will not need to authenticate. Questions: is there an update coming that will allow viewing from either windows live account or an iCals application (not Outlook)? - You can currently view your calendar using Windows Live Calendar or a any application that supports the subscription to an .ics file. More information can be found here: office.microsoft.com/.../HA103887591033.aspx Is there any security in the method you are suggesting?

- The only way to share your Private Published Calendar is from Outlook to Outlook. Public calendars can only be accessed if someone knows the address at which the .ics is stored. Example of Public Calendar URL: webcal://calendars.office.microsoft.com/pubcalstorage/q83dq64z190127/my_sample_calendar.ics Can someone change my calendar if I do publish it the way you suggest??

- No, no one can change your calendar but you. People who subscribe your calendar may only be allowed to view your calendar. Christian Miller
