You might wonder what To-Do Bar improvements were made in Microsoft Outlook 2010. We want to present a brief overview of the work that we have done, based on your feedback,

re: To-Do Bar Improvements in Outlook 2010

Hi, I just moved to Outlook 2010 as part of Office Professional Plus 2010, and my To-Do Bar has NO separators as shown above, so I'm stuck only seeing 2 of Today's events, followed by "X more events" and then plenty of events for Tomorrow & the following days. Is there some kind of registry tweak or other fix-it that can restore the separators, or make it not show the upcoming day's events?

Result: hard to relate, "at a glance," displayed appointments with displayed calendar. Aggravating this confusion is the unpredictability of time extent covered by displayed Appointments: it may be just today, or it may be weeks or more, since Appointments displayed are limited by allocated screen space, not time.

I would like:

1) Dates of displayed Appointments highlighted in Calendar somehow (italics, color, background, inverse color, something). Even better (too tricky?): color-match the date background with a color border around the displayed events (maybe color week by week rather than item by item).

2) Emphasize "today" in that mini Calendar display by STRIKETHRU font of days in the past. It's what we do on printed calendars to emphasize days gone under the bridge.

I use a separate view of the Task List for each client I am working for. (This makes my status reports at the end of the week a snap.) I have one overall listing grouped by client and sorted by task ID that I specifically created to show on the to-do bar and this is what I (want to) print on the print-out of the calendar page I use to make notes on what I do each day for time reporting. The problem is that the list occasionally changes to some other list from my available views and I have no idea what the problem is. All-of-the-sudden, the view will change and if I go to "Customize Current View" it becomes apparent that the system has changed the view entirely. Instead of the To-Do view, I will have one of the client views.

The only fix for this that I have discovered is to delete the "To-Do" view, customise the client view that is being used, and then rename it to "To-Do" Finally, I have to re-create the view that I had to customize under the client's name for the client that was on the view that Outlook chose to use as the view for the To-Do bar.

Is there some way to tell the program what view I want it to use? This work-around, while it works, it a bit of a hassle!

Thanks!

Close Outlook 2010 (32 bit)

Downloaded MFCMAPI 32bit from here:

mfcmapi.codeplex.com/.../66930

Accepted the License Agreement and clicked OK.

Clicked Session-> Logon and Display Store Table

Chose my Outlook Profile

Double-clicked on my mailbox

Expanded Root Container

Right Click To-Do Search and select "Delete Folder"

Check "Hard Deletion" and Click OK

File->Exit

Session->Logoff

File->Exit

Opened Outlook 2010 and To-Do Bar showed tasks (took longer than normal to open Outlook as it was setting up my profile)

Thanks MSFT!

I really, really like the To Do bar; it makes it very easy and convenient to keep track of things I need to do... with one slight exception:

Since it's become possible to keep track of recurring tasks within the Tasks area (instead of using recurring appointments, which is what I've always used before), my appointments area has become rather empty. Specifically, as I write this, I have one upcoming appointment... three weeks from now. What I want is for the appointments pane to show me that appointment, but not until three days before it happens. This way I get a good reminder that I will actually *notice* (instead of tuning it out after needing to ignore it for over a month), without the annoyance of using reminders.

So, basically, I'd like to be able to filter the "Appointments" section of the To Do bar, the same way I can filter the "Tasks" section... using something along the lines of, "between Today and Today+3."
