After several months of beta testing, Microsoft Outlook Hotmail Connector 14.0 has officially been released as a replacement for Outlook Connector 12. Outlook Hotmail Connector 14.0 is compatible with Outlook 2003, 2007, and 2010.
If you have been using Outlook Connector 12.1, you already know that it enables you to manage your Windows Live Hotmail e-mail messages, calendar, and contacts from within Outlook.
Outlook Hotmail Connector 14.0 introduces several improvements. For example, you might notice after upgrading that the connection to Hotmail is more reliable than before, and issues such as blank messages being synchronized to Outlook have been fixed.
With Outlook Hotmail Connector 14.0 and Outlook 2010, you see these additional benefits:
To install Outlook Hotmail Connector, whether you have an older version of Outlook Connector already installed, or you are a new user, do the following:
1. Go to the Microsoft Download Center at one of the following locations.
For Outlook 2003, 2007, 2010 (32-bit): Outlook Hotmail Connector 14.0 for Outlook 2003, 2007 and 2010 32-bit
For Outlook 2010 (64-bit): Outlook Hotmail Connector 14.0 for Outlook 2010 64-bit
2. Download the setup file by clicking Download next to OutlookConnector.exe, and then save the file to your hard disk.
3. In the folder where you saved the installer, double-click OutlookConnector.exe to start the setup program.
4. Follow the instructions that appear on your screen to complete the installation.
The version number of the new Outlook Hotmail Connector is 14.0.4760.1000.
If you are using Outlook Connector 12.1, you can directly install Outlook Hotmail Connector 14.0 without uninstalling the 12.1 version.
We have seen reports of problems with the auto-upgrade mechanism used to install the latest version of Outlook Hotmail Connector. Users of Outlook Connector 12.1 were prompted to run the Outlook Hotmail Connector auto-upgrade, but were prompted to upgrade again after they completed the setup process and then restarted Outlook.
This is caused by an issue with the Outlook Connector 12.1 auto-upgrade software.
Due to this issue, we have temporarily turned off all auto-upgrade prompts. Until further notice, you can continue using Outlook Connector 12.1, or you can upgrade manually to Outlook Hotmail Connector 14.0 — in both cases, Outlook successfully synchronizes with your Windows Live Hotmail Inbox.
Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007 users:
1. Open Outlook.
2. Click Outlook Hotmail Connector, and then click About Outlook Hotmail Connector.
3. The version appears in the About Outlook Hotmail Connector dialog box. If the version number is equal to or greater than 14.0.4760.1000, you have successfully installed Outlook Hotmail Connector 14.0.
Outlook 2010 users:
2. Click the File tab.
3. Under Account Information, click the down arrow, and then select your Hotmail account:
4. Click Additional Information, and then click About Outlook Hotmail Connector.
The version number appears in the About Outlook Hotmail Connector dialog box. If the version number is equal to or greater than 14.0.4760.1000, you have successfully installed Outlook Hotmail Connector 14.0.
On behalf of the entire Outlook Hotmail Connector team, thanks for trying the new Outlook Hotmail Connector 14.0.

While sending and receiving in Outlook 2010 I started to get these errors.
Task 'myemail@hotmail.com' reported error (0x80004005) : 'There is an error synchronizing your mail account. Please verify your account is configured correctly by first accessing your mail on the web. Error: 4102. '
Task 'myemail@gmail.com - Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC1A) : 'Your server does not support the connection encryption type you have specified. Try changing the encryption method. Contact your mail server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP) for additional assistance.'
I seem to be getting the emails but why do I get these errors?
The problem I'm having is that even though the mail server has emails sitting there waiting to be picked up by Outlook 2010, it won't pick them up for at least 20-30 minutes. What I find strange about this is that I can login to hotmail and my email is there right away whenever someone sends me something. But for whatever reason, using the Outlook Connector delays the time in which the mail server gets the email and the time that Outlook actually retrieves it.
Is there something I can try? I've already set it to check emails every 1 minute. Open to any suggestions as it's extremely frustrating.
P.S - This doesnt' happen to my wife's email account in Outlook 2010 who doesn't use the connector for her email but rather POP directly with the mail server.
Thanks
Hello: I am experiencing problems with the out look connector in outlook 2003. I was prompted for an update to outlook connector. I have noticed any reply messages I perform in outlook 2003 mysteriously erase after 20 minutes. I created a new folder in outlook 2003 today and moved the messages I wanted to keep in the file. All was well until outlook synchronised and all the messages were gone. I checked my in box and the messages were also gone as I commanded them to be moved into the new file.
I logged onto hotmail through my web browser and realised the synchronisation didn’t take place. I managed to retrieve the messages in my in box and created the file on the hotmail webmail. The messages I had replied to were no longer to be found. I am disappointed as they were important replies. This is only apparent with the .com and works fine with .co.uk
I believe their must be a region bug issue within the new version of the connector..

I spent 4 days without being able to send ou email. I logged into help chat for a 36 dollar charge. They found I was connected to an exchange server and said I had to go to business support. They told me the charge woul be 259 dollars. I objected and they gave me a case number. They were unable to solve the problem, which was that msft was trying to upgrade outlook and outlook connector at the same time, which froze the system. My IT department fixed the problem by creating a new profile. An enormous waste of my time.
Hi Folks, The best ting to do at this point is to visit the Microsoft Answers Forum, the part specific to Outlook (answers.microsoft.com/.../office_2010) and first search to see if your issue has been logged (and there may be an answer) and if not, log an issue and please be as specific as you can. The people who go to these sites to answer questions are extremeley knowledgeble, many of them being MVPs (Microsoft Most Valued Professionals). - Annik
Hello!
You guys shared 2 links in this article about Outlook but I have to say that the first one is not working, here is what is says: "We are sorry, the page you requested cannot be found." The second one works perfectly though. Is it me or the link is broken or not valid or whatever happened to it? Thank you in advance for fixing it, I appreciate your attention to my post very much.

The links on this page appear to be broken. The 32-bit one brings you to a page that says "We are sorry, the page you requested cannot be found." the 64-bit link just brings you to the Microsoft Download Center home page.
