MySpace for Outlook enables you to view activity updates for friends and colleagues in the People Pane, synchronize your MySpace contact list to your Outlook contacts, and get one-click access to profiles.

See the press release on the MySpace Web site for more information, or go to the download page to get the provider.

Remember, if your computer is running the Outlook 2010 Beta, you must update the Outlook Social Connector before installing. See the instructions in our last post for more details on updating the Outlook Social Connector.

Thanks!

  • Is there a date yet for when the OSC 64-bit download will be available?

  • @64me The 64-bit OSC download will be available around the time that Outlook 2010 becomes publicly available. We recommend that you use the 32-bit Outlook 2010 Beta if you want to use the LinkedIn or MySpace connectors before the Outlook launch. Thanks! michael affronti

  • when will the Facebook connector be ready?

  • Yup, I think a Facebook connector would be better than MySpace. This because the most of my friends and colleagues have Facebook not MySpace. And please do a 64-bit..

  • I agree we need the FB Connector, and for the Europan Folks the Xing Connector... Who uses MySpace?

  • I'm really disappointed that there isn't a 64 Bit version. 64-Bit Windows 7 computers are the norm these days and why would I go back to installing 32 bit Office 2010 when 64-Bit is available?

  • I'm very pleased to see this feature of Outlook being rolled-out and am very much looking forward to using it. Unfortunately, I'm on the 64-bit version of Outlook, so I'm stuck until the 64-bit OSC is released. I would also very much like to see connectors for Facebook and Twitter, as I use them FAR more than MySpace.

  • @perry, et al... Thanks for the feedback. We are hard at work with our partners on providers for their networks, like Facebook and XING, and are looking forward to releasing them in a few months. 64bit support is also in the works. Thanks again! michael affronti

  • I have been using the social connector in Outlook for LinkedIn and I like it... but there seems to be a glitch when I tried adding Myspace. I use the same email address for LinkedIn, MySpace & Facebook... and apparantley Outlook's Social Connector does not like that. It give me an error that I am already using that username (my email address) for linkedin, so I cant use it for the other networks. is there a workaround or update for this yet?

  • im looking forward to use it, it look nice

  • I like the idea of the social connectors but only time will tell how usefull they are. One of them is being annoying though, either 'Business Connectivity Services Add-In' or 'Microsoft Outlook Social Connector'. If you make a contact in your own contacts folder and the person also exists in the GAL, the connector will always update your personal copy with the GAL information. There doesn't seem to be a way to turn this off. I don't want 30+ contacts sync'd to my mobile phone all with the same business phone number. Grrr! Please let users turn off such "smart" features.

  • I'm having same problem as Tara above. I'm using same user name on LinkedIn and MySpace (and Facebook, and Twitter, and...) since the username is the email address, and when trying to connect to MySpace the connector respons "A connection for this user name already exists". Pretty annoying bug.

  • @Michael Thanks for the update on the 64bit. Too bad there isn't a way to get it before the public release for those of us that have the 64bit Outlook could play.... Looking forward to it.

  • it does not work if you already use your email as username in another provider….

  • I'm currently using the connector for LinkedIn and really enjoying the additional information in the email preview pane. However, when I first synced with LinkedIn, a new contacts folder was created and all my LinkedIn people added to it. Now I have duplicates of most of my contacts. Is there any way of adding LinkedIn-specific info to existing contacts rather than having them duplicated?
