We’re happy to announce the Beta release of Microsoft Outlook Hotmail Connector 14.0 (previously called Outlook Connector) in parallel with the Outlook 2010 Beta.
Why use the Outlook Hotmail Connector?
If you have been using Outlook Connector 12.1, you already know you can manage your Windows Live Hotmail e-mail, calendar, and contacts from within Outlook.
Outlook Hotmail Connector 14.0 Beta is compatible with Outlook 2003 and 2007, and will replace Outlook Connector 12.1 upon release and provides an improved authentication and synchronization experience.
Better with Outlook 2010
With Outlook Hotmail Connector 14.0 and Outlook 2010, you gain these additional benefits:
Install the Outlook Hotmail Connector 14.0 Beta today
If you have installed the Outlook 2010 Beta and have a Hotmail account in your profile, you are prompted to upgrade to the Outlook Hotmail Connector 14.0 Beta (see my previous blog post on the subject for details on how to connect an Hotmail account to Outlook 2010).
To download the Outlook Hotmail Connector 14.0 Beta manually, go to the Microsoft Download Center.
Outlook Hotmail Connector 14.0 for Outlook 2003, 2007 and 2010 32-bit
Outlook Hotmail Connector 14.0 for Outlook 2010 64-bit
On behalf of the entire Outlook Hotmail Connector team, thanks for trying Outlook 2010 and the Outlook Hotmail Connector 14 Beta.

Any plans to ever support task sync?
What exact version is this one? is it newer than the one available via my TechNet subscription, for Office 2010?
I'm so incredibly frustrated that tasks are not supported. I hear from Microsoft constantly how you're going to make my information available from anywhere, anytime. Yet the one thing I want most, ALL of my Outlook data -- on the web and synced between two computers, you refuse to provide. I can only guess that you're wanting people to use an Exchange Server. But for home or student users, this isn't going to happen. And other competitors options look increasingly good because of it. You ought to just position Exchange for the collaboration and sharing of calendars and contacts but then allow say 2-4 people (a family) to sync Outlook between your web services and multiple computers, and share calendars and contacts. Surprise us. Make customers pleasantly surprised at how easy staying in sync is. Because right now, it stinks.
Does this new version allow the 'New Mail Desktop Alert' to function with Hotmail accounts, in either Outlook 2007 or Outlook 2010?
I agree with Jay. And when will we be able to sync this all with Windows Mobile? I've been racking my brain for months, trying to sync my Windows Mobile, Outlook, and Live calendars and tasks. Why can't I get Outlook emails, tasks, calendars, and contacts in sync with all web services, Windows phones and computers...simply by signing in everywhere with my Windows Live ID? Isn't that what Live is about?
So when are we going to be able to sync our data to our windows mobile devices properly???? I have my private contacts in the default Outlook "contacts" folder and my shared contacts & calendar in the Live Outlook folder which works well, but how can I then sync my live contacts/calendar down to my windows moile device as activesync doesn't allow me to select the live account folders for syncing.... come on MS you can do much better than this......give us a REAL mobile solution please!
is there a way that my Outlook contacts and calendar automatically appear in my live / hotmail web world?
before, with outlook connector 12.1, i had a limit of 1,000 contacts and it did not stay synced. ditto with the calendar. has this improved?
Add me to the list wanting task sync included. I can't believe a new version could be released without this feature at the top of the list.
Hi, I love the connector but since installing it I have had repeated problems opening Outlook on both the PCs I've installed it on. Sometimes, when I click Outlook nothing happens. When I go to task manager no application is shown running however when you go to processes, there are multiple Oulook processes running (depending on how many times you have clicked Outlook to get it started). The only way to get Outlook running is to end the process tree and then it starts ok?!? I was hoping there would be a fix soon. It's happening on both my machines running different versions of Outlook. The other reason it could be happening is that I use the Google calendar sync tool on both machines. Sorry, guys, I tried both calendars Live and Google and the Google one is much simpler and easier to understand and run. This is really frustrating me now so I hope someone can help! Thanks

No problem installing it on xp with 2003.Receiving emails in Outlook and Hotmail work fine. But whenever I send an email it is sent from the Default account, not from the Hotmail account even if I am within there. is there a solution, or is it intended to always have outgoing mail as coming from the Default account?
Agree with Jay - small non-profit business of 4 people can't justify SBS nor do they have the expertise to manage. Can you program against connector?
Hi, Installed Office 2010 beta on a new Win7 machine (64 bit). Works fine except for the connector software. The 64 bit version won't install because it doesn't see the Outlook 2010 installation. The 32 bit version of the connector software crashes the Outlook 2010 beta. Please help!
Hello! I was dissapointed about lack of task sync functionality too. Please, include task support in the upcoming releases! Best wishes, Yuriy
Did anyone get an answer to gkfjr's question: Does this new version allow the 'New Mail Desktop Alert' to function with Hotmail accounts, in either Outlook 2007 or Outlook 2010? I really would like the "New Mail Desktop Alert" to work with my Hotmail account in Outlook 2007.
using outlook 2010 on win 7 32bit. When opening Outlook first time, all emails (Time Warner cable and Hotmail) are loaded correctly. However, if I hit F9, the send/receive is stuck. Closing outlook doesn't work. Must stop process, then re-open Outlook and the new mail will download. Please fix!
