Today, we are thrilled to announce the release of the public Beta of Microsoft Office 2010! Betas for Office 2010, as well as SharePoint Server 2010, Visio 2010, and Project 2010 are available for download at www.microsoft.com/2010. This is an exciting and significant milestone for both the Office and Outlook teams, because it means that for the first time, anyone can download Office 2010! You can learn more about the complete release of the Office 2010 beta on our Office blog.
The Outlook team is particularly excited for a number of reasons – the beta release represents the latest and best version of Outlook 2010 we’ve been working on. Features that we’ve discussed on this blog in recent months – Conversation Arrangement, Quick Steps, Mail Tips, Calendar Preview, Multiple Exchange Accounts and more – are all now publicly available and accessible through the beta for anyone to try today. In addition to the features we’ve already discussed here, we’ve invested a great deal between the Technical Preview release and today’s beta around the user interface, performance, and overall fit and finish. Finally, we are introducing a great new feature today, the Outlook Social Connector.
In addition to the beta release, the Office team has also done a great deal of work to improve our online content and experience, and you can see the latest information on Office 2010 and more by visiting the newly designed Office.com.
The beta is a significant milestone in the development of Office and Outlook 2010, but we’re not done yet! Our final and official release of Office 2010 is still slated for the first half of 2010, and I encourage you to keep in touch with us on this blog to learn more as we enter the final phases of our development efforts to release Office 2010.

Where's office communicator? The web pages talk about both 2007 R2 and 2010, but the download doesn't contain any. And 2007 R2 won't save as email or do conversation history. Just like the Tech Preview...
I am finding most of the features very nice, however, one I find annoying is that there appears to be no option to turn off delete of meeting requests, unlike earlier versions of office, plus , you can't just copy them back from the deleted folder into the inbox or folder.... and help woudl be appreciated

The "Change Views" needs serious work. You've made it far more difficult to create easily customizable views. Plus, you've made those view lables difficult to view in full. Yikes! Why are you making things like this less user friendly. Please, please, please consider restoring easy access to views as in previous versions of Outlook.
By the way, I am a serious user of Outlook and heavily customize it. I'd be glad to provide you views of these were you interested. Outlook is such a great product, but you guys seem intent on reducing some of the flexibilty for users like me. I just don't get the attitude of engineers who insist on reducing simple functionality to end users. Thanks for listening.
Hello, I am using live domains for my mail. How to get live connector?
I found kind of workaround for connecting e-mail hosted on live domains. Just type fake@hotmail.com. And then sigin in with your real email address. chaliy.name/.../office_live_connector_for_office_2010 I will submit issue for this issue.
I am using Office 2010 Beta and loving it so far. My only question/suggestion at this point is related to the small text that says "Expand to see all items" in the inbox. Is there a way to remove that? Once you're familiar with the new inbox, it seems obvious by the little arrow that there is a conversation there, and I don't really need to be reminded to to expand. Also, it replaces the name of the person who it's from so it's a bit annoying. Is there any way to get rid of it? Thanks for your great work! I'm loving these new Conversation features.
I had hopes for Outlook 2010 and its conversation view improves the tracking of e-mail conversations. The problem is that it is just based on the email subject and I often have multiple different conversations but with the same subject. I really hope Microsoft makes this works better before the final release or this feature will be a big fail. One good thing is that I can now make a custom follow up flag if I select multiple emails.

I found that Exchange Client Extensions (ECE'S) won't load in Outlook 2010 Beta. Our product relies heavily on ECE's. We use events that are not otherwise available in COM-Addins (e.g. IExchExtMessageEvents::OnReadComplete() or IExchExtMessageEvents::OnWriteComplete()). Will ECE's be supported in the final release? If not, what would be the best alternative? Thanks for some hints.
I'm loving the new Office, particularly the conversation-based approach to the inbox. One feature that would be nice would be the ability to turn off the text that says, "Expand to see all items". Once you've seen this once, it's fairly obvious from that point on, and I don't like how it takes the place of seeing the person's name and/or subject line.

Installed 2010 Beta 32 bit onto my laptop running Vista and now am unable to sync to my winmo device. Pretty frustrating to say the least as the first attempt deleted all of my contacts. Also, for whatever reason, every time I start Word or Excel, it runs through the install dialog again.......
Outlook 2010 Beta has a (nearly) fatal flaw when composing email. When the Autosave kicks in, it moves the typing cursor to the upper-left of editor window. This happens in the middle of a sentence! you could be typing then all of sudden your text starts getting inserted at the very beginning of the email (upper left)! even if you just let it sit there, after a minute the cursor will jump up. This is crazy annoying and ruins what is otherwise a decent beta experience
