For everyone using the Outlook 2010 Technical Preview, there are a number of improvements for working with multiple Exchange accounts. My name is Andrew Sullivan, I’m a Program Manager working on Outlook and it’s my pleasure to highlight some of these improvements.
Connect to more than one Microsoft Exchange account simultaneously. If you’ve worked with more than one Exchange account in Outlook 2007 or earlier, you may have resorted to using multiple Outlook profiles to access your additional accounts. No more, as Outlook 2010 supports connecting to as many as three Exchange accounts from a single profile.
How do I get another Exchange account into Outlook?
In the Technical Preview, Outlook requires you to use the Mail Applet in the Control Panel to add additional Exchange accounts. In Windows Vista or Windows 7, type “Mail” into the search box in the control panel to find the Mail Applet. In Windows XP the applet is shown in the default Control Panel view.
Once you’ve launched the Mail Applet choose “E-mail Accounts…” and then “New…” From there, the wizard will allow you to add another Exchange account.
What’s the catch?
Your additional Exchange accounts function just like your first Exchange account in almost every way. Some things, however, are different. For example, the To-Do Bar shows appointments only from your default store, not those from additional Exchange account calendars. To view which store is your default click the Office button, then Account Setting, then, choose the Data Files tab.
What else is improved about Multiple Accounts?
The Ribbon in Outlook 2010 is specific to the account at which you are looking. If you click New E-mail in the ribbon while looking at the Inbox of your second Exchange account, your new message will be sent from your second Exchange account.
Who are you sending From?
When you add a second account of any type to Outlook 2010, the new From Picker will show up on new mail messages. This allows you to easily see which account you’re sending from, and just as easily change it.

What about search folders? can there be unified ones? also calendars etc? Are they separate or jumbled?
I discovered the multiple Exchange account feature in 2010 when I decided to randomly give it a try when setting it up the first time. I was very pleasantly surprised. Are there any plans to include the ability to merge data from multiple accounts for display on the To Do bar? I'd love to be able to see all of my appointments across all of my Exchange accounts at a glance in the list.
Does this allow caching as well? Shared mailboxes in 2007 never did - really annoying when your Exchange server is in the other side of the world.
Is 3 Exchange accounts a hard limit? If so will this change in the final version? Nice feature by the way!
This is huge, and by far my favorite feature in 2010. But when will this functionality come to Windows Mobile???
Do reminders and notifications operate within the extra Exchange folders? Will outgoing messages get placed in the proper Sent Items folder?
This is AWESOME! I've been waiting for this for a LONG time! (Not so much for me, but for my users...) I only have one question. Will we be able to use this in conjunction with our current Exchange 2007 server? Or is this a feature only available when using the 2010 version of Exchange?

@Jeremy: Do you work with a Terminal Server or Citrix? As far as I know caching is even greyed out in ther Server options. So it´s not possible to use cached mode (This would need too much space on your Server and makes it very slow). Another question: Does anybody know if the search feature works with all accounts at the same time? And does it work with Lookeen? Any suggestion would be appreciated! greets
How will these ultimately sync with WinMo devices? will all sync? or just one? And if only one syncs with WinMo, are we able to deliver email to one shared inbox but functionally still make use of multiple exchange accounts? Taken one step further, if we can't sync all accounts to WinMo, than will we be to choose a unified calendar and contacts so all info will sync? that would at least be a real-world practical implementation. (otherwise a hard-line separation between accounts seems only marginally better than separate profiles if you can't cross boundaries between calendars/contacts/etc.) it's been on my wish list forever, I'm just hoping for a full, practical implementation rather than a bare-bones (half-baked) approach.
Hurricane and Coding4Fun - Unfortunately Outlook 2010 doesn't support aggregating calendars in the To Do bar. Definitely a worthwhile feature request though. Jeremy - Yes Cached Mode is fully support for Multiple Exchange John - We're currently investigating what the limit will be, it will likely be greater than 3 when we ship. Yay! No more redirecting mails from 2 other Exchange accounts.
Thank you guys so much for implementing this feature - it'll make transitioning from my college' Exchange server to an Exchange server at another company when I graduate. I do have an unrelated question, though (not sure where else I can ask) - we just migrated one of our users to the Office 2010 technical preview to test for deployment issues, and we cannot find where the autocomplete suggestions are stored any longer for users composing a new e-mail. (Previously stored in the .NK2 files in AppData) Can anyone provide me some guidance on where to look for that data?
The reason why I stopped using outlook was that it didn't select automatically which account to send from. I had multiple inboxes. And when I was reading one of them I pressed New message, the From was always the default mail account. That was frustrating. Is it any better in 2010?
Mike - yes, reminders and notifications work for for additional Exchange accounts and outgoign messages are placed in the Sent Items folder corresponding to the account they are sent from.
