Office 2003 SP3 is here!

The Microsoft Office product teams are proud to announce the release of Office 2003 Service Pack 3. While we know that many of you are enjoying the great functionality of Office 2007, we also know that there are many more of you who still continue to rely on Office 2003.

Office 2003 SP3 is focused on improved security across the entire suite of applications, fulfillment of top customer requests, and improved compatibility with Windows Vista. We recommend that all of Office 2003 users install the service pack.

  • For all of you having problems with Brother MFC/DCP machines not being able to scan to email, there is an update to ControlCenter called "ControlCenter2 Update Tool" on Brother website. Go to downloads for your model and it will be listed under utilities. It has worked for me.

  • I downloaded the ControlCenter2 update tool from Brother's website, but am still getting the message about "the command line argument is not valid. Verify the switch you are using" Anyone have any other suggestions? Thank you.

  • After i installed office 2003 sp3, some email looks like this RGVhciBQYXJ0bmVyLA0KDQogICAgICAgIGJlbGxvdyB5b3UgY2FuIGZpbmQgYSB2ZXJ5IGFnZ3Jl

UHJvZHVjdHM I used to receive from these recepients with no problem prior to sp3 installation. Does anyone please know how to solve this problem?

  • you have to install the update after downloading it (duh!!) - i had the same issue with the mfc 8460n and the patch to the control center program worked like a charm. Good job, Brother!!!

  • If I try to FAX a PDF or Word Doc or anything I get this message every time “The command line argument is not valid. Verify the switch you are using.” It opens in a small window. I do not or have never installed SP3 for Office. Please Help

  • Thank you for the Control center 2 update suggestion. After downloading it, yes you need to decompress and install it. But it Worked!

  • When I try to use 'mailto:' within an Excel spreadsheet, it won't let me add Attachments with it. It tells me “The command line argument is not valid. Verify the switch you are using.” It worked fine with SP2. Is there a way to fix this? Other than going back to SP2.

  • kc9bpo: This functionality is no longer available through a mailto link. If you need to do that through Outlook, you would need to write an Excel macro that would use the Outlook object model to create a new message and send an attachment.

  • Windows Vista Home Premium

    Outlook 2003 SP3

    Brother MFC 640CW

Control Center 3 This combination does not work. Still get the "invalid command line" message box. The "Control Center 2" update is not for Vista, so this offers no solution. Please help?!?!?!?

  • Brother have a patch which fixes the scan to email problem "The command line argument is not valid. Verify the switch you are using": welcome.solutions.brother.com/.../dlf003176.html

  • I have tried the patch from brother did not help. I only saw the control center 3 not 2. Can anyone help?

  • Ryan Gregg,

"This functionality is no longer available through a mailto link. " Why did you take this functionality out is very usefull and I used it every day at work. Can you put it back please?

  • Command Center 2 software is up to date (so the path did not help) and I get the following error message when trying to install 3: Installed Version of Command Center does not support the update installer. I have Brother MFC 640CW running on Windows XP Now what?

  • OK, the way I just fixed. Open the configuration for Email and delete the Microsoft Outlook option. Close Control center, and reopen. Go back in configure for email and you will now see a new Microsoft Outlook 2003 option. Select and scan.
