Office 2003 SP3 is here!

I have two PCs with a clean install of Vista and Office 2007 - Office 2003 has never been near either of them - and yet both have prompted me to install Office 2003 SP3 via Windows Updates. Even MBSA detected it as a missing update. Why do I need to install an Office 2003 update when I'm using Office 2007?

Why does Windows Update prompt me to install Office 2003 SP3 on a PC with Vista and Office 2007 installed? This has happened to me on two brand new PCs, which have never had Office 2003 anywhere near them.

If you are seeing the Office 2003 SP3 appear on your computer with Office 2007 installed, it's likely you have some component of Office 2003 on your computer without realizing it. In particular, this is usually because something has installed the Office 2003 Web Components. You can either remove this component if you don't need it, or you can install SP3 for the products you have installed. --Ryan Gregg

After installing Office 2003 SP3 I am unable to use the scan to functions from my Brother scanner which used to open Outlook automatically. The error that is now received is.... " The command line argument is not valid. Verify the switch you are using. " How do we correct this?

I just installed SP3 for Office 2003 and when I open up Outlook 2003 and try to Archive my E-mails the Archive option is no longer there. Does anyone know where it was moved to?? I went back to a machine that was not runnning SP3 and archive was right under Files -> Archive. In SP3 it is no longer there. Thanks

i just installed sp3 onto my office 2003, and now i can't even open .xnk file a calindar that i have attach to send to users and manager.. it say that it is block.. what the F*CK.. why freaking ask people to update to sp3 and end up making the software unussable.. CRazy F*ckers

Will the over 16 items selection limitation gonna be fix? We have a commercial product integrating with the --lovely-- Outlook 2003.

Due to the missing handling of hard-deletion, we have to cook up a very --smarty-- logic to detect them.

Will Outlook team ever gonna make this happened in 2003? like borrow the events BeforeFolderOrItemMove() from 2007? PS: BTW, the mentioned events are kind of --too sophisticated-- working in 2007. Will the next service pack of 2007 make the events more --healthy-- ? :|

outlook with SP3 drops almost all Email into the junk folder. This includes email addresses that are in my contacts.

Jeff Horvath, Could you let me know some more information about the scanner and software you have? - What is the model number of the scanner? - What is the version number of brother software/drivers you are using? This will help us track down the issue - I appreciate your help, Andrew Sullivan

Outlook Program Manager

After applying Outlook SP3 our users are no longer able to open files saved in the Outlook Message Format (.msg). The following message is displayed when trying to open these files: "The command line argument is not valid. Verify the switch you are using" Our shortcuts are using the /recycle switch. Some of the chatter on the net links this to Google desktop - but we aren't running Google desktop.

I neglected to add that we are running Windows 2000 Pro SP4 with all security fixes current.

Since we installed SP 3, we can not longer Edit in datasheet any lists on our SPPS 2003 Portal. Any ideas???

Why are you responding to user's issues regarding ""The command line argument is not valid. Verify the switch you are using" SP3 has disabled GFI Faxmaker on our system, and I have found no way to roll back to SP2. At least acknowledge that SP3 has caused compatibility issues, and pretend that you care!

Frustrated: I want to make sure I understand your scenario. Can you use the EMail link at the top to send us an e-mail so we can get more details about your issue with SP3? In particular, I'd like to know what you mean by your shortcuts are using /recycle. Do you modify what command line Outlook uses to launch .MSG, or are you launching Outlook initially using /recycle and then launching an MSG? Thanks.

Ryan - I tried using the email link but no -joy. We're launching Outlook initially with the /recycle switch. Since you cannot easily uninstall Office SP3 - I went ahead and un-installed Office 2003 and then re-installed it. After this I was again able to open .msg files. We presently have a number of users affected by this problem - any help would be greatly appreciated.
