OneNote Mobile for iPhone 1.2 delivers new features and is available in new markets

One of the unique qualities of Microsoft OneNote, and the reason it so often becomes an indispensable tool for those who use it regularly, is how effortlessly it lets you collect, share, and find all of the information that you want to keep track of — all in one place.

It is the goal of the OneNote Mobile team to make sure that each new release makes it easier to capture and access all of your notes and ideas whenever you're on the go.

Available today, OneNote Mobile 1.2 for iPhone introduces the new search, sharing, and customization capabilities that you've been asking for. We're also happy to announce that we're making the OneNote iPhone app available in five additional markets worldwide today: Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.

  • Very nice app.  Is it possible to sync notes to Exchange 2010 via iPhone?

  • Thanks for your comments and feedback, everyone. I don't have any news at this point about any possible future development plans — neither for additional platforms nor additional languages — but all of your feedback is seen by the OneNote development teams. If there's news to share in the future about OneNote and OneNote Mobile, you'll definitely hear about it here on the OneNote Blog. Please subscribe to our feed if you haven't already, and again, our sincere thanks for all of your feedback and interest so far. It is very much appreciated!

  • @Michael

I am aware that Microsoft competes with Google, and thus creating a OneNote app for Android may not be a priority for MSFT.  I am an avid user of Office, but also I like using Android as I use Google Apps.  Having a OneNote app for Android would enable me to continue using the full suite of Office products, including OneNote.  Not releasing an Android app may simply push me (and many others) to abandon OneNote and adopt Evernote or one of the many other multi-platform note-taking programs, and then little by little it will make less sense for me (and many others) to buy and use Office.  The more access MSFT gives me to access its products and services, the more I will buy them and use them.  The less access it gives them, the faster I will abandon its products.

  • How can I create a new notebook on my iphone?

Everytime I create a new notebook, all I get is a new note inside the default notebook (Personal (Web)).

    Please help.

    Thanks,

    Jasbir

  • Really suprised by iPhone over Android... are you quite sure you know who your users are?

  • Great news!

Hopefully it'll be available soon for us in North Africa and Middle East :)

  • Nice addition, please add inking display support to it if the team of OneNote Mobile has enough time.

I have been waiting to get a Window Phone 7 smartphone, hoping to have seamless integration between WP7 and OneNote, however things do not happen - inking display has not been there, not to mention creating new ink.

After seeing this new update of MobileNoter, I think I may spread the news to all friends of mine who use OneNote to think about iPhone instead.

    Please keep it up Microsoft.

  • Hi OneNote Team,

I'm a OneNote for iPhone user, but this is about something broader than the iPhone.

I recently bought my first Mac laptop a few months ago, the old MacBook Air).  I bought Office for Mac 2011 and am really liking it EXCEPT for the absence of OneNote, which I used to use religiously on my PC.

I've tried running OneNote for PC using Parallels on my Mac, but it's not the same as a native app.  I'm now turning to alternatives such as Evernote and Growly Notes.  All of these are decent, but none are as intuitive and powerful as OneNote.

OneNote team - you guys are clearly passionate about making a great product.  The passionate community of OneNote PC users is evidence of that.  Likewise, it's clear that Microsoft is serious about the Mac platform, given the support for iOS and the great execution of Office for Mac 2011.

Please, please consider making a version of OneNote for Mac OS?  I would gladly pay $80 for it as a standalone app.

    Thank you.

  • I use OneNote a lot and like many others, I really miss the possibility to access my notes from my (i)Phone. I hope you will make this app available in Denmark soon (I would even prefer my OneNote in English over Danish). Thanks in advance - looking forward to it. :o)

  • It be awesome to port the OneNote App to the iPad...iPad users are clamoring for more Microsoft software...Redmond needs to take the hint and work more magic on the iPad

  • While news sites reported that voice memos can be recorded with Onenote iPhone 1.2, I could not find an icon for doing this. I suppose voice recording was not included in version 1.2?

  • I absolutely love having OneNote on my iphone but I really NEED OneNote on my Galaxy Tablet and I need it yesterday! Any idea of when or even if it will be coming out. I've had to resort to EverNote.

  • I'll add my 2cents in asking for an iPad specific version of the app. I think with inking capabilites, it would be a "killer app" on the iPad.

  • One feature I use constantly on my Android phone is the shortcut to a single note in Evernote.  This allows me to put an icon for grocery list, etc.  Will OneNote mobile add this feature so I can have a shortcut to a single section or page?  It will save time from clicking through a notebook, section, and page.

  • I really like this app, but why did you put the "Delete this page" option under the "Share" button in OneNote for iPhone?

What is worse - there is no confirmation dialog. So when you hit this option by mistake, the page is gone. Will you update this in the next release, please?
