How often can you get to Key West when you’re from its opposite corner—the Pacific Northwest? I went to Key West to dry out, see wildly different flora and fauna, and sample southern and Cuban cuisine. 

I wanted to remember every last second so I created a running travelogue in a OneNote notebook with photos, favorite restaurant info, and my notes. I’ll walk you through my notebook to show you how to add that type of content to your own.

Sometimes you put so much stuff into an OneNote notebook you can't find something--even though you've organized the notebook into well-labeled sections and pages. If you're a big traveler, for example, you might have packed it with menus from exquisite restaurants in Paris or notes about the Egyptian Pyramids you visited last year.

One really fast way to find pretty much anything, anywhere in OneNote is to search for it. Just type a phrase in the Search box.

I recently chanced upon an article in Real Simple magazine, titled "Inside the God Box," an account of the author's mother and the countless scraps of notes that she had jotted down during the 20 years before she passed away.

Meet Hobie Henning, an engineering student who loves to tinker with his computers, run his own website, and work part-time for his school's IT Help Desk.

Hobie first discovered Microsoft OneNote on a fellow student's PC. He played around with the program for a bit and right away appreciated the great combination of features that make it a perfect companion for schoolwork. After he spent nearly three years typing out his notes in Word and then saving them to individual files, Hobie realized that his 1998 method of taking notes needed an update.
