Back Already - Updated XLL Paper on MSDN

On September 19 I announced Steve Dalton's article on Developing XLLs in Excel 2007, and posted a draft. This article has now been edited and finalized, and resides in its new home on MSDN - take a look here.

  • Thats great, good work Steve!

So the only thing we're missing is the new and improved xlcall.h + xlcall.lib, when will these be released?

I was also wondering what other technical articles, regarding Excel 2007, we can expect to find on the MSDN site?

  • Hi - sorry, should have mentioned that.  Same offer as in last post on this - if you want to experiment with XLLs in the most recent beta, it will be useful to have xlcall.h and xlcall32.lib … send me an email using the “email” link on the top left of the page if you would like me to send you a copy of these files.

Final versions of these will be availalbe shortly after we release Office.

  • It might be worth mentioning that B2TR does not work with what is described in this document in case anyone gets confused trying it out.

  • Which part of the document are you referring to? I've personally been working on an XLL based on the earlier draft and although I haven't put everything into practise it seems to be working so far for me...

  • Keith, we have quite a number of people successfully using this documetn and B2TR.  If you have an issue, please let me know, because I would love to make sure we have already addressed it.

  • A totally unrelated question - while reviewing earlier blog I notice you mentioned that the formula bar's new features had associated shortcut keys.  I presume that meant that you could expand and collapse the formula bar via the keyboard.  But you didn't tell us what those shortcut keys were?

Can you also resize the Name box via keyboard shortcuts, and if so what are they?

In the blog that covered this topic you did not mention that you can best fit the formula bar by double-clicking it, which I think is a nice feature.

    Regards,

    Shane
