The Access Show: Managing Access Databases with SharePoint

This is the third episode of The Access Show. Steve Greenberg recently gave a great talk (rated in the top 7 of all sessions) at the SharePoint Developers Conference about how Access 2010 and Access Services enable organizations to provide better oversight of Access development while empowering users. In episode three Steve and Clint walks you through the key points of this hit session.

  • This is a great video. Need more information on Access 2010 integration with Sharepoint 2010. How about some written documents with details, not just pretty videos? Bob

  • Hi Clint,

for me last demo looks bit confusing, the rest very well done! Alex

  • Very cool. Will solve a lot of problems around accessability for us (no pun intended!). Particuarly like the ability publish data in a staged way.

  • I still need more information on how to integrate Access 2010 with Sharepoint 2010 via Access services. I post questions on the Access 2010 and Sharepoint 2010 forums but do not seem to get any answers. Makes it hard to do any beta testing.

  • Your enthusiasm and excitement about the ability to integrate with SharePoint is infectious! Steve makes a good point about the "conflict" between business units and IT departments over the role of Access in corporate environments. I only wish the integration story was easier to convey -- IMO it's an incredibly important advance for Access developers and users. I am concerned, however, with the number of Access developers who feel that SharePoint integration doesn't apply to them or their users. Hopefully it won't be too long before SharePoint 2010, with the full complement of Office services, is available through Office Live. IMO, once people have the chance to work with the new integration features, they'll have a better perspective on how important SharePoint can be to the Access community.
