Andy Colonna has released an open source spell check that works for the runtime. It also includes suggestion logic. Those of you building runtime apps might find it useful.

  • Off-topic: Can anyone confirm a bug in A2007 US SP1? I'm having incompatibility issues after I imported all objects from MDB to ACCDB. I have A2007 CZ SP1.

    See www.utteraccess.com/.../showflat.php

Thank you very much in advance.

  • Vladimir, this is the wrong forum, please keep things relevant.

  • This is very nice to see, but I'm curious if Microsoft has any plans to find a way to add support for the built in Spell Checker to work with Access 2007 runtime without a full Office 2007 install. Even if it was a separate redistributable, it would greatly appreciated. Most of my clients have some variation of Office 2003 or prior installed, but our application only works with Access 2007 runtime.

  • Blog reader: Is there an official web site to report Access bugs?

  • RJ,

There aren't any immediate plans to include spell check in the runtime. Part of the problem is we license parts of the speller technologies from external partners and the agreement limits our ability to extend it in this way. Vladimir, There is defined processes to reporting bugs and getting fixes from the product team. It involves working through our support organization. This team has people in place that are experts at looking at issues and helping customers find solutions to their problems. Many times reported bugs are errors in the app--other times it is an bug in the product. The core product team doesn't have the bandwidth to work through every reported issue on the internet. We rely on our support team to filter the issue down--point customers to available fixes (if available) and request QFE (Quick Fix Engineering) from the product team. This allows the product team to focus on the most important customer issues. Additionally, we monitor all crash data that comes in through the watson data and regularly fix the top crashing issues. The best way for you to get fixes to your problem is to work with our support team. support.microsoft.com/.../default.aspx
