One thing about being on the Access team that I enjoy is seeing some of the great work being done in the Access community. Among the forefront of this community is FMS, who is the leading developer of Access add-ins. FMS recently announced a preview version of Total Access Analyzer 2007 which is a tool that helps you create better Access databases. There are too many new features to list here, but here is a small subset that might be interesting to note:
Here's a link to the preview:

Enjoy!

IMHO, Access should include professional tools like Total Access Analyzer, MZ-Tools, V-Tools, ... They are much better than ribbon & navigation pane. Off-topic:
I'm finishing my database with A2007 bugs & issues to be sent to Clint Covington ASAP.
Vladimir, still no ribbon. . . wao, it has been a while since we aked about this.
im telling you. . . mabe clint cahelp you, but i will do also something for you, i will create a ribbon to you, ak me whatver you want, i will do it. :-) AND FOR FREE. My friend, the ribbon will give yu a modern look to your app, like it did for mine. Take a look : www.advdev.net
The ribbon is just a passing fashion. It will be gone (OPTIONAL) soon enough.
Edwin:
More progress... no success... :-( Ribbon XML seems to be buggy.
See www.utteraccess.com/.../showflat.php
Craig: "It will be gone (OPTIONAL) soon enough."
It's a must. So, I hope it will be gone very soon.
It is worth noting that Office 2008 for the Mac does not have the ribbon. It is also worth noting that uptake of Office 2007 is very low and that there are many AddIns that recover the menus and toolbars although do not completely solve the reduction in screen real estate problem. All our clients are still using no later than Office 2003 and they are all avoiding Vista. Most OEMs are still shipping with XP installed as an option. Microsoft has merely rearranged the deck chairs in Windows and Office since the millennium. We are looking to ReactOS to avoid Vista and Windows 7 (and Midori/Singularity) going forward and sticking with Access 2003 until we can find something better. For those who like the ribbon I am happy for you I do not want to take it away for you just make it go away COMPLETELY for me as an OPTION. I also want Jensen Harris's head on a stick outside Microsoft 33 as a warning to others. (vbg)
Craig: Thank you for mentioning ReactOS. It's new to me.
Vladimir hello; We hope ReactOS will be launced asap and another ms access open source clone will follow soon. I think MS already lost there rudder esp Ms Access Team. What they are doing are all diversions from the main issues.
Erwin: Totally agree with. I've been testing A2007 for several weeks now and I still can't believe what they've done to it. TOTAL MESS!!!
Erwin:
Oops: "Totally agree with." stays for "Totally agree with you.", of course.
Erwin: "What they are doing are all diversions from the main issues."
That's right! As I have already mentioned I'm about to finish my database with A2007 bugs & issues. It's gonna be sent to Clint Convington but first I'd like to visit Microsoft CZ personally to talk to them about most critical bugs & issues. My team needs to know if we can still have some expectations... or not at all.
At the moment I'm hardly thinking about switching back to A2002 (or maybe A2003) since there are some incompatibility issues between A2002 and A2007.
There are also VERY DANGEROUS THINGS in A2007 CZ SP1, like this: www.utteraccess.com/.../showflat.php P.S. The database I'm talking about will be available for public ASAP but no edits will be allowed.
Edwin: Do your QATs perfom as expected? See www.utteraccess.com/.../showflat.php.
