Runtime SP 1 update is imminent

I'm getting regular pings about the runtime. The update is imminent but I can't specify an exact date (you never know when a recall class bug is found). The update will include all fixes for SP 1 and release of the international languages. Stay tuned and we will post more information on this blog as soon as it is available for download.

Thanks for your continued patience,

  • Thanks for the info Clint! Can't wait!

  • Thank goodness! But 3 months to fix this? Obviously MS does not care one bit about the Access developer community.

  • My friends in microsoft. We the developers of access, we have invested a lot in access 2007, we really need your help. We need the access runtime sp1 fixed, i have been reading your blogs, regarding all issues people have posted, and we can take controls of other things, like ribbon creation, the achoring, but we cannot control the problems with access without sp1. Please help on this issue. Keep on doing your best work, thanks for your help.

  • I have a question for the Access developers related to the Runtime. Does it work with ADP, ADE files from 2003? Do I need to create an ACCDE file to work with it? I have tried this and continue to get a "This database is in an unreconized format" error. The computer I'm using has nothing but Windows XP sp2, no Office. The runtime is the only MSACCESS.EXE on the computer. I will be glad to wait for the SP1 if that will help me.

thanks for any help in advance!

  • Edwin,

Thanks for the kind words. People around the world are working at getting the runtime SP1 finished as I type. We will keep at it. JP,

Yes, ADPs *should* work with the runtime. Unfortunately, the RTM version for 2007 was missing some components that enabled ADPs to work. Creating Accde’s are not necessary. Any file format that has a startup form/autoexec macro will work in the runtime. Can you send us more information about the error you described? You may need to get more info on this one. That is a pretty generic error for when we cannot load the file. Was this a renamed file? How was it opened? What version of the Access runtime? If this is 2007, I am even more interested. Use the email link in the top right.

  • The wizard to package Access databases is a big improvement over the old developer's toolkit and happily free to Access 07 owners. However, I had to work too hard to find out why error messages kept coming up when I downloaded my packaged database. I am grateful to have ultimately been lead in the right direction but would have also appreciated a warning on uploading the current AccessRuntime.exe file of potential bugs and problems in its use from a computer updated with the service pack.

  • hello, my question is related to a post which has coments disabled, i apologize for posting it here. post is : blogs.msdn.com/.../creating-schema.aspx i am using access 2003, and want a multi-select list box, but am not sure how to do it. i also posted a query in the newsgroups at : msdn.microsoft.com/.../default.aspx any suggestions are appreciated.

  • vc-programmer: Simply change the value of MultiSelect property of the ListBox. See Access help.
