Great news, you can now redistribute and use the PDF and XPS addin with your Runtime solution. Our download page has been updated to reflect this fact. Best of all, you don't need a new copy of the runtime to take advantage of this. The Runtime's code has not been changed. Your existing runtime solutions can now officially be distributed with the PDF and XPS addin by chaining the .msi for PDF and XPS into your install process for your app (after the Runtime).

I'm still getting errors trying to do the Output to PDF. Is the install order important?
I noted the errors here:
www.utteraccess.com/.../uaremgo.php
I'm checking on this...
If there is no actual change to the add-in, then I will still have the same problem (A while ago I downloaded the add-in to my Vista laptop which has Office 2007 Enterprise and then copied it to another machine with Windows XP and just the Access 2007 runtime). I too got the 2501 error message. Will you be changing the add-in to get it to show underlining properly in Access, please? Having to change all my underlined labels to textboxes and set their text format to Rich Text is a bit of a chore. Ta. Alan
Zac,
The web page for the Access runtime that you quote has been modified to say that the PDF add-in can be distributed with the runtime, but as of 25/8/2007 the PDF add-in page which it links to still says you need the full version of Office, validation and stuff. That page needs changing too. Alan
The new "Active" features of Reports (filters on preview, etc) work with Runtime Edition? Bye
Yes--report browse and filtering is available in the runtime.
Thanks Alan, yeah we know about this. The text on the PDF site and EULA should not be a problem. What we've got on the Access runtime site is sufficient to grant you the rights you need to redistribute.
I tested the PDF/XPS by installing it on a Windows Vista Enterprise edition. XPS document writer installed, however PDF document writer did not install.
David, do you mean it installed but doesn't work right, or it didn't install? Did you know there are three different install packages?
- PDF only
- XPS only
- PDF and XPS
I can't get Export to PDF to work under the runtime (works fine under full access) or the new "Active" features of Reports (filters on preview, etc) Can you suggest where I can get help with this. I have posted a few questions around the web re the PDF export and the consensus was that that the feature didn’t work in the runtime. Looks like this is not the case which is great but we need more detail. (www.experts-exchange.com/.../Q_22669866.html)
I downloaded the file named SaveAsPDFandXPS.exe located at www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx (note that page only has one download which based upon its filename I asume its for pdf and xps) and it only installed the XPS driver. Meaning, if you go and look at the printer list, the PDF printer did not get installed
The link you have at the top of this page links to the PDF and XPS. thats what I downloaded. It only installed the XPS printer driver. Now my question is. Do we have to Save AS PDF? vs. in the full access 2007 product there is a PDF Printer driver that gets installed
Hmmm... do you mean print driver or export button? Is there a new printer now installed on your computer that all apps can use?
Rex: see my previous comment in this post. We're aware of the PDF issue. It looks like there is a bug that our testing failed to catch and we're actively investigating it. Sorry for ths inconvenience this is causing! On Reports in the runtime, you should be able to get to the filtering functionality on the right click menu. By default, runtime mode does not show the filtering buttons at the top of Access. You can add your own button to open the filter dropdown, or you can customize the ribbon to add the filtering buttons back using custom ribbonX. HTH!
