Communicator + LiveMeeting=Lync

In the past I've touted Office Communicator and frankly, I am and have always been quite fond of that program. But I have to admit that like some past presidents and ever-present politicians, I also have a bit of a wandering eye; I've often wondered if there might be something, well, cleaner, more integrated with the other programs I use most. Something a bit more satisfying and complete than the reliable and comfortable old Communicator. And I've also wished that my instant messages and virtual meetings seemed a little more...personal.

Imagine my delight when Microsoft Lync (love the name, huh?) was introduced to the world. Now that I've been using it for a while (one of the perks of working within the organization that made it) and it's been really, really hard to not spill the beans about it.

Listen, I attend a LOT of meetings while on the road or at home and I rely on this type of software to connect me to my colleagues and what they have to say. Lync integrates with SharePoint, Exchange and Office meaning I don't have to worry about saving conversations or missing IMs or calls.
