My favorites of OneNote 2010: Crabby's Daily Tip

(Yes, in the clouds. I'll get to that in a minute. )

As I was saying, in this new version of OneNote, you can experience new and expanded features in the area of sharing collaboration, organization, research, editing, touch support, and more. But what really got my motor running this idea of universal access to all of your information. You now have virtually uninterrupted access to all your notes and notebooks from anywhere at all, whether it's your home, your office, or stuck in an airport surrounded by volcano haters.

Listen to this:

  • Cloud access   In addition to being able to sync your notebooks to file shares, SharePoint, USB drives, etc., you can now also sync to the cloud with Windows live, meaning your notes are available anytime, anywhere and from any computer at all. (Click File, click Share, click Web, and then under Web location, click Windows Live Sky Drive.)
  • OneNote Web app   You can access and edit an entire notebook from a Web browser, even on computers that don't t have OneNote 2010 installed.
  • Have OneNote, go mobile      Say you have a Windows Mobile 6.5 phone. Well, you can use Office Mobile 2010 to work with your notes anytime anywhere (again, even if a volcano stymies your travel plans). Use OneNote Mobile 2010 to create or update your notes using many of the same formatting tools (such as bullets, numbering, and font styles) that you already know and use in the desktop version of OneNote.  You can also insert voice memos and pictures in your notes, and then view the pictures in full screen and easily pan, zoom, or export them to other applications. Additionally, you can use Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC) to sync your mobile notes with OneNote on your desktop.

I'm sorry, but how can you NOT love this???

  • I would love this feature but I have had 2010 since February 1 and the Web location, Windows Live SkyDrive is NOT available, what am I doing wrong?

  • I just found out that it's NOT available in the beta version; in fact I'm not even sure it's available in the full version. Let me get back to you.
