Turn your mouse into a PowerPoint laser: Crabby's Daily Tip

PowerPoint 2010, in Slide Show view or in Reading view:

  1. Do one of the following:
  • To use the laser pointer in Slide Show view, on the Slide Show tab, in the Start Slide Show group, click either From Beginning or From Current Slide to start your slide show.
  • To use the laser pointer in Reading view, on the View tab, in the Presentation Views group, click Reading View.
  1. Press and hold CTRL, click the left mouse button, and point to the contents on the slide that you want to draw attention to.

  • Once more I find I cannot follow Crabby's tip. Using CTRL whilst clicking the mouse is the same as BACKSPACE - goes back a slide or an animation.

I am using PP 2007 on Vista.

    What's going on?

  • It's for PPT 2010.

  • P.S. Upgrade to Windows 7! I promise you'll be glad you did!!!

  • Why isn't there an option to constantly turn this on during the Slide Show mode.

Pressing Ctrl + Left Click isn't really quick when you are presenting.

  • Satish -- I agree. Seems like a really inconvenient thing. I can't belive there isn't a way to have it "perisist." Let me poke around here and see if perhaps we can't set up some sort of shortcut or macro (or something). I'll get back to you.
