Compare + combine = one happy family in Word: Crabby's Daily Tip

If you're like me (no snide comments, please), you've become quite adept at using the keyboard shortcut Alt + Tab. As you know, this allows you to quickly switch between any program you have open and working on your computer. And, it used to be, when you wanted to compare two documents, you had to open them both and switch back and forth between them.

Well, there's a new sheriff in town and she's doing' things differently:

  • Compare up close   With the Compare feature in Word 2007/2010, those days are behind you: On the Review tab, in the Compare group, click Compare, and then click Compare again. Enter the documents in the dialog box, and click OK.

  • Now, combine   Continuing with the Compare feature, you can merge comments and changes from two documents into one document: On the Review tab, in the Compare group, click Compare, and then click Combine. Enter the documents as for comparing.

Have a great weekend, people. Remember to carve out some "unplugged" time.

  • The above thought is smart and doesn’t require any further addition. It’s perfect thought from my side.
