I recently received a comment from a blog reader (actually it was most of a question):

"Question for Crabby. I've have been looking for months for an answer to this question about Word 2007. Is there any way for me to change the global default cell margin settings for tables? I'm perfectly happy with the default left and right settings, but I want to make the top and bottom settings the same. Mine are set to zero and I have to change them every time I create a table. Can you help me, Crabby? — MessengerBoy"

Why of COURSE I can help! This is what I told Messenger Boy to do:

I believe that the quickest way to do this doesn't involve changing the table default; you can do it by saving the table you want in the Quick Tables gallery

  1. Select the table.
  2. On the Insert tab, in the Tables group, click Table, point to Quick Tables, and then click Save Selection to Quick Tables Gallery.
(**It's at the bottom of the list of tables already in there.)

Next time you want to use it just hop back over to Quick Tables and find your table and insert it.

Hint: To have the Quick Tables function within easy, one-click reach, add it to the Quick Access Toolbar.
