Delivering the best email experience for tablets with Windows 8.1

Outlook Windows 8.1Windows 8.1 is almost here and with it will come more than 20 new and improved Microsoft apps and services. The one our team is most excited about is the email experience, which begins with the Mail app on your device, powered by the Outlook.com service in the cloud.

The new Windows 8.1 email experience is designed for modern email. It is optimized for mobile devices, built for touch, built to work with your whole life, and designed for the types of email that matter to you most. One of our most popular and helpful features for getting to the email that matters, Sweep, is coming to the Mail app exclusively for people with an Outlook.com email account. And there are other benefits to using Outlook.com: newsletters and social updates are automatically organized into special views, you can set automatic replies, and because Outlook.com uses Exchange ActiveSync, your Outlook.com contacts and calendar are also automatically synced with your Windows 8.1 device.

We’ve shared more about the Mail App on the Windows Experience Blog. We hope you enjoy all that the Windows 8.1 email experience has to offer.

  1. Eagerly anticipating the update.

    Cheers.

  2. Does the Mail App support? Reply/Forward State Sync both ways – Many users are lamenting that ActiveSync Outlook 2013/iPhone Mail App is unable to synchronize the reply state? That means when users use outlook.com they don’t not know if they replied or forwarded an email.
