What’s New: September 2013

Leaves are changing color and people are going back to school.  Luckily for all those students and note-takers, there are a bunch of updates to OneNote across devices. Some other highlights this month include SharePoint limit increases that make it easier to share large files (2 GBs) and recover previous versions of documents.  You can also now start Yammer conversations about a specific document from within SkyDrive Pro and SharePoint.  Let us know your favorite new feature in the comments!  See the August What’s New roll-up here.

 

Office 365 Home Premium & Office 365 University updates:

 

OneNote for iPhone and iPad update – iPad users can now create a new notebook, the apps are reduced in size, Japanese typing is improved, and OneNote now automatically detects if you’re creating a list.

Pin new note to you Windows Phone start menu – New update for Windows Phone lets you now pin a new item to your Windows Phone home screen for starting a new note.

OneNote for Android in more markets worldwide – Download OneNote for Android in over 60 new markets.

 

Office 365 for business updates*:

 

Delegate access now available in the Outlook Web App – Set up your account to have another person manage your calendar and email on your behalf.

SharePoint Online improves limits and makes it easier to restore documents – Now upload 2GB files, increased from the previous 250 MB limit, now 10,000 site collections per account, and improved self-restore with a 90-day default recycle bin, document versioning turned on by default for new SkyDrive Pro libraries, and read on for even more update details.

Starting Yammer conversations from documents stored in SharePoint Online – Easily start Yammer conversations about documents stored in SkyDrive Pro and SharePoint with the new Post feature.

Manage spam notifications with Exchange Online Protection – Admins now have more options for how users manage their spam through notifications, and more granular spam policies.

Power Map for Excel updates – Power Map has added a new getting started experience, region based visualization, flat maps, and new video creation tools.
