Pin new note to your Windows Phone start menu: OneNote GDR2 update on Windows Phone

OneNote on your Windows Phone lets you always have all of your notes right in your pocket. You can write notes, audio record notes to yourself, take a photo of a whiteboard or business card, or check off grocery items in a notebook shared with your family.

It’s always important to jot down quick thoughts when they strike, and that’s why we added a new feature in the Windows Phone 8 GDR2 update.  Now you can pin a new item to your start screen: Tap New note to create a new quick note.

To add this update, open OneNote and then go to the notebooks list (at the top left of the screen, tap the breadcrumb to navigate up).  Once you are on the list of notebooks, tap the ellipses () symbol, and then choose Pin new to start.  It’s as easy as that!

I personally use this all of the time and have it pinned right at the top of my start screen. Whenever I want to remember something, I just jot it down with this pinned item.

This is what I have at the top of my start screen:

How do I get it?

For more details on the update, check out the Windows Phone 8 updates history page as well as directions on how do I update my phone software

We hope you like this update for your Windows Phone–let us know what you think in the comments!

  1. it’s not a new feature. Actually it was there before Windows Phone 8 but somehow you have removed it. Now it is back. This doesn’t mean it is new…

  2. A little off topic I know but /have you seen the new Evernote Browser Clipper/??? Get up to speed, you guys. Get up to speed.

  3. Great update! Do you guys have any plans to add the ability to create outlook tasks to WP8 version?
